What are the responsibilities and job description for the LONG-TERM CHILD CARE SUBSTITUTE TEACHER position at Calvert School?
Calvert School, an independent lower and middle school, is searching for a temporary Long-term Child Care Substitute Teacher for its Kiddie Calvert program. The position will be available early March for approximately three to six weeks. The hours for the position are Monday to Friday, 8:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.
Kiddie Calvert is a child care center providing care to infants eight weeks old to toddlers age four. Specializing in the care of infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children, Kiddie Calvert is designed to build confidence, independence, and academic interest in our boys and girls, preparing them to succeed in kindergarten and beyond. Calvert School is located in Tuscany-Canterbury, a residential neighborhood in Baltimore City, just north of Johns Hopkins University and south of Loyola University Maryland, accessible from Charles Street and I-83.
The Teacher will lead a class of eighteen-months to two-year old students mid-March to mid-April. The teacher will plan and instruct appropriate age lessons and will collaborate with other teachers. In addition to managing the daily affairs of a classroom, the teacher will communicate with parents.
Qualifications of the ideal candidate include the following:
- Must be 21 years or older and have at least one full year working in a preschool setting.
- Must be Maryland Senior Staff qualified (possessing the 90-hour certification) or hold an Associates or Bachelor’s degree (with transcripts) in Early Childcare Education (ECE).
- Candidates must have successfully completed 45 hours of infant/toddler coursework.
- Demonstrated skills establishing effective relationships with staff, parents, and children.
- Must have a strong work ethic, be dependable, and have strong communication skills.
- Must have a high school diploma; Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
Calvert School offers a competitive salary and benefits package. Salaries for long-term substitutes teachers are based on years of teaching experience, education, and job-related responsibilities. The salary range is $140.00 to $160.00 per day. Calvert School offers medical, prescription, and retirement plans to long-term substitute teachers. Teachers also receive sick and safe leave and paid holidays.
