Activities Assistant / Volunteer Coordinator

SUMMARY :
Carry out a program that will enhance the resident’s quality of life through direct and indirect services. To build a volunteer program that will supplement and support staff. To implement a program using community volunteers to amplify the resident's contact with the world around them.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

- Assist in planning and facilitating programs as directed
- Responsible for the coordination of Calvin Communities volunteer program
- Assess resident involvement and complete quarterly progress notes
- Document attendance and participation in structured activities
- Assist with monthly calendar development
- Cooperate with all disciplines in the planning and implementation of resident activity programs
- Inform the Activities Director of materials needed for activity programs
- Partner with Activities Director to establish programs
- Evaluate the effectiveness of existing programs
- Establish goals for each resident and program
- Punctuality and regular attendance are requirements of this position
- Is available to work overtime when needed
- Weekend and evening availability required
COMPETENCIES :
EDUCATION :
Associate’s Degree Recreational Therapy or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
EXPERIENCE :
At least six months related experience, either as an intern or professional
