Key Responsibilities
- Counsel students on self-awareness, strengths, and challenges through reflective conversations and activities.
- Provide individual interventions to enhance emotional regulation strategies, promoting increased on-task time.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with faculty, staff, and administration to ensure optimal guidance and counseling services.
- Participate in grade-level meetings to coordinate student support.
- Guide students in effective communication, conflict resolution, and social skills development.
- Serve as a consultant to parents, guardians, faculty, and administration.
- Conduct short-term groups to address social skill needs and foster connections.
- Acknowledge risk for suicidal ideation, self-harm, and abuse/neglect, following up as required.
- Host parent workshops and faculty training sessions on topics related to student wellness when necessary.
- Evaluate students and refer them to outside services as needed.
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences as required.
- Interview prospective students and contribute to the Admissions Committee's review of applications.
- Support Next School Placement and provide mental health profiles for high school decisions.
- Maintain accurate records of counseling and guidance activities.
- Prioritize student confidentiality and adhere to state laws and Board policies regarding data release.
- Assist with Outdoor Education field trips as needed.
