Thermal Laminator Operator

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Thermal Laminator Operator to join our West Valley City print facility on the first shift. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining thermal laminating equipment to ensure high-quality, consistent output. The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, quality-driven, and capable of working in a fast-paced production environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Machine Operation

   • Set up, calibrate, and operate thermal laminating machines to meet production requirements.
   • Adjust machine settings (pressure, temperature, speed) to align with product specifications and quality standards.
   • Monitor machine performance and product output for consistent quality.

2. Quality Control

   • Inspect laminated products throughout the production process for defects, proper adhesion, and correct dimensions.
   • Verify that materials meet established quality specifications before and after lamination.
   • Report any quality issues or equipment malfunctions promptly to the supervisor.

3. Equipment Maintenance

   • Perform basic troubleshooting, repairs, and preventative maintenance on laminating equipment.
   • Keep machine and work area clean, organized, and well-maintained at all times.
   • Follow established safety and maintenance protocols to minimize downtime.

4. Production Efficiency

   • Adhere to daily production schedules and ensure on-time completion of lamination projects.
   • Coordinate with team members and other departments (e.g., printing, finishing) to optimize workflow.
   • Track and record production data accurately, including material usage and scrap rates.

5. Safety & Compliance

   • Follow all safety guidelines, including lockout/tagout procedures and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
   • Comply with company, local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA standards.
   • Participate in safety meetings, training, and audits as required.

Qualifications

• Experience:

  • Previous experience in laminating, printing, or a related manufacturing role.
  • Familiarity with thermal laminator equipment and processes is highly preferred.

• Technical Skills:

  • Basic mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot minor machine issues.
  • Comfortable with reading job tickets, work orders, and production specifications.
  • Ability to measure accurately using standard rulers or measuring tools.

• Soft Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail to ensure consistent quality.
  • Good communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment.

• Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, bend, and move around production equipment throughout the shift.
  • Capacity to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
  • Comfortable with repetitive tasks and exposure to moderate noise levels.
