Position Summary:
As an HSE Manager at CAM Industrial Solutions, you will be responsible for implementing, administering, and maintaining health, safety, and environmental (HSE) programs, policies, and procedures in compliance with occupational health and safety legislation, CAM HSE standards, and customer safety requirements. Reporting functionally to the Corporate HSE Manager and at the site level to the CAM Site Manager, you will serve as a subject matter expert, advisor, and key member of the Site Leadership Team.
This role requires a proactive leader who can identify safety hazards, conduct inspections, drive compliance, and foster a culture of safety across all levels of site operations. The ideal candidate will balance time between the office and field to ensure active engagement in safety initiatives and program implementation.
This is a temporary, full-time position, expected to last approximately 6 months or until project completion, following a standard turnaround schedule.
Primary Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance with OHS regulations, CAM safety policies, and client safety standards.
Lead the implementation and monitoring of health and safety programs, policies, and procedures.
Conduct site safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
Establish and track key leading and lagging safety indicators and report regularly to the Leadership Team.
Develop action plans based on safety indicators, including focus audits, monthly campaigns, and training.
Serve as a resource for HSE-related questions and ensure site leadership actively participates in incident investigations.
Participate in and assist with incident investigations, reviews, and corrective action planning.
Ensure timely completion of incident and safety reports, including tracking of lessons learned and corrective actions.
Identify opportunities for recognizing positive safety performance at individual, group, and milestone levels.
Work closely with customer HSE and leadership personnel to foster a strong safety partnership.
Directly oversee Site HSE Advisors, ensuring a balance of office and field presence (approximately 25% office, 75% field).
Assess competency and capability of HSE Advisors, providing coaching, training, and mentorship.
Set and maintain work standards while fostering a positive, high-performing HSE team culture.
Manage administrative responsibilities for HSE Advisors, including time sheets, scheduling, and shift coordination.
Address performance or morale issues within the HSE department and escalate concerns as needed.
Maintain accurate documentation, including daily logs, incident reports, and corrective action registers.
Prepare and present reports, charts, and safety performance trends to the Leadership Team.
Ensure completion and distribution of safety reports for CAM and customer requirements.
Develop and deliver presentations outlining safety trends, achievements, gaps, and improvement opportunities.
Recommend personnel actions such as hiring, promotions, and corrective action within the HSE department.
Engage with the Site Manager and Corporate HSE Manager to align safety initiatives and reporting.
Qualifications:
5 years of experience in HSE roles within industrial, construction, or oil & gas environments.
Strong knowledge of OHS/OSHA legislation, safety programs, and regulatory requirements.
Experience conducting safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
Ability to work hands-on in the field, ensuring real-time safety compliance and engagement.
Strong communication and leadership skills to influence and support site personnel.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management systems.
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) certification is preferred.
Undergraduate degree is an asset.
