Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Medical Driver is responsible for preserving the integrity of the Camas Health Recovery Center properties by performing the following duties:
- Drives a transit bus or van over assigned routes within an established time schedule.
- Loads and unloads passengers safely at designated stops; ensures passenger safety in crossing the street.
- Maintains control of passengers on vehicle; responds to parents and other citizens concerning transportation schedules and problems.
- Inspects vehicle prior to trips to ensure safe operation; reports any mechanical defects or malfunctions; refuels vehicles, checks and maintains fluid levels.
- Sweeps and maintains vehicles in clean and orderly condition.
- Completes transportation records such as number of passengers transported, mileage, special runs, route directions, etc.
- Ensures record keeping and adheres to the oral and written transportation policy and procedures.
- May transport passengers with special learning needs and physical challenges; may operate power lifts to load and unload passengers in wheelchairs; may strap and tie down wheelchairs to ensure student safety.
- Because of the clinic's commitment to community service and the well-being of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties from time to time. Such duties may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities.
Education & Certifications
- Must possess a High School diploma and be over the age of 18.
- Driver's license with specific endorsements/restrictions is required.
- Must pass a criminal background check, a drug screen and meet all health and immunization requirements required by federal, state or Tribal laws and regulations.
Experience
- Minimum of 1 year driving experience.
- Knowledge of:
- Safe driving practices and techniques.
- Positive methods to maintain control of passenger behavior.
- Basic first aid.
- Safety and maintenance requirements of bus/van and other transportation equipment.
- Provisions of the Washington Motor Vehicle Code applicable to the operation of vehicle.
- Skilled in:
- Driving a bus/van and other transportation equipment safely and efficiently.
- Maintaining control of passenger's behavior on a bus or other vehicle.
- Operating equipment such as power lifts, when required.
- MS Office skills including Word and Excel are required.
- Record keeping.
- Oral and written communications.
Other Requirements
- Obtain a Level 3 Kalispel Tribe of Indians Work Permit
- Availability to work nights and weekends as required.
Additional
- Ability to manage your time efficiently.
- Work well when supervisors are not present.
- Candidates shall be subject to all applicable regulations, alcohol testing and employment will be contingent on the results of said testing.
- Must successfully pass a background investigation and a reference check with previous employers.
- Must possess or have the ability to possess and maintain First Aid and CPR Certification.
Travel Requirements
Drives a transit bus or van over assigned routes within an established time schedule.
