Who We Are: CAMBA is a community of staff, volunteers, clients, donors, neighbors and partners who work together to build an inclusive New York City, where all children and adults have access to the resources and supports they need to thrive.  We take a comprehensive approach by offering more than 180 integrated programs in:  Education & Youth Development, Family Support, Job Training & Employment Support Services, Health, Housing, and Legal Services. We reach more than 73,000 individuals and families, including almost 13,000 youth. CAMBA serves a diverse cross section of New Yorkers from new mothers in Brownsville to job seekers in the Rockaways. More than half of our clients are immigrants and refugees from around the globe. Over 85% of our families are in living in poverty, reflecting the challenges faced by nearly 1.7 million New Yorkers today.

Transitional Congregate Housing Program: CAMBA’s Transitional Congregate Housing program provides nine transitional units for the HIV/AIDS Services Administration (HASA) .  HASA is the sole referral source for this housing.  Each individual has their own lockable room but shares common space such as the bathrooms, living room and kitchen.  Clients receive case management and residential/operational services such as meals and assistance when they move to permanent housing.  Case management support is an integral part of achieving the program’s goal of helping clients to attain self-sufficiency.  This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring that clients are connected to and maintain primary health care; assisting them to find and secure permanent housing; and exploring and starting the process of returning to the workforce.  A client stay is limited to six months. However, extensions can be granted by HASA.
