Position: RN Supervisor
Shift: 5 * 8-hour Night Shifts
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hrs/week
Summary:
The primary function/responsibility of the Night Supervisor is to supervise the nursing activities of the facility on the night tour of duty for our 84 bed Skilled Nursing facility. Such supervision must be in accordance with current federal and state standards, guidelines and regulations that govern the facility, and as may be required by the Director of Nursing Service to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times. As a Supervisor in the organization, it is required that the Supervisor works in close partnership with the Director of Nursing, Administrator and other disciplines across the campus for the long-term, strategic growth of the organization and its mission. Essential Job Functions The essential job functions, as detailed below, are the specific duties that are required to be performed in a professional manner, with a positive attitude.
• Ensures that staffing numbers are maintained to provide adequate coverage levels for both licensed nurses and certified nursing assistants on evening tour of duty, to ensure that routine nursing needs of the residents are met, and quality care is maintained. Makes recommendations to the Director of Nursing on staffing needs for evening shift.
• Makes frequent rounds on each nursing unit, to ensure that all nursing service personnel are performing their work assignments in accordance with acceptable nursing standards. • Follows up on any pertinent resident/unit issues noted from 24-hour report. Consults with DNS on outstanding issues that need resolution.
• Works closely with nurses on each unit providing guidance, delegating responsibility, and accountability necessary to perform their duties.
• Meets with staff on a regular basis to assist in identifying and correcting problem areas and/or to assist in the improvement of services provided.
• Participates in employee performance evaluations, making recommendations to the Director of Nursing with regard to follow up required, staff development needed, and any disciplinary protocol required.
• Monitors absenteeism of staff, addresses issue with staff as needed, reports problem areas to Director of Nursing.
• Interprets Nursing Department policies and procedures to nursing staff.
• Monitors clinical condition of the residents, provides the physician or nurse practitioner with pertinent information regarding resident problems and changes in the resident’s condition.
• Responds to facility emergencies, duress calls, following the emergency call protocol. Serves as the Emergency Nurse for the campus as directed/scheduled.
• Assesses the situation and implements appropriate nursing measures and any needed follow up required to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the resident.
Salary : $110,000 - $114,000
