Position: Acute Residential Counselor - Adult Developmental Services
Pay: Starting at $21.66 per hour
Job Type: Full-Time
Location: Residential homes in Burlington, Colchester, and Essex, VT
Travel: Within Chittenden County
Shift Availability: Weekend, evening, and overnight hours (Saturday or Sunday availability required)
Position Overview
As an Acute Residential Counselor in Adult Developmental Services, you will provide direct support to individuals with developmental disabilities in a residential setting. This role involves assisting clients with daily living skills, managing crises, and promoting community integration. Working collaboratively with the treatment team, you will help create a safe, supportive, and structured environment that fosters independence and growth for each client.
Key ResponsibilitiesClient Support and Activities
- Facilitate constructive activities tailored to each client’s Individual Support Agreement (treatment plan).
- Promote skill acquisition and assist with daily living tasks to encourage independence.
Crisis Management
- Implement crisis and support plans using Therapeutic Options training, maintaining a calm and professional demeanor during challenging situations.
Community Integration
- Support clients in engaging with their community, fostering inclusion, and building meaningful connections.
Behavioral and Medical Support
- Provide assistance with behavioral and mental health needs.
- Assist clients with personal care and medical tasks as needed.
Collaboration and Teamwork
- Work closely with the treatment team to ensure care delivery aligns with each client’s goals and support plans.
Requirements
- Experience:
- 3-4 years of experience in human services or a combination of education and relevant experience.
- Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform routine lifting and assist with client mobility when required.
- Driver’s License:
- Valid driver’s license with access to a personal vehicle.
- Availability:
- Ability to work either Saturday or Sunday, as well as varied evening, overnight, or weekend shifts.
