Role Description
This is a flexible part to full-time role for a fabricator within our workshop located in Red Hook, Brooklyn. This person will work closely with our design team and clients to help realize a wide range of complex art and architectural projects. Tasks include working with various materials, using woodworking and metalworking tools, collaborating with the design team to realize project goals, maintaining tools and workspaces, and ensuring quality control throughout the fabrication process.
Duties include:
- Careful handling of fine wood and metal components
- Careful assembly of unique components with a high level of craftsmanshipÂ
- Safely working on ladders and scaffolding
- On-the-fly problem solving
Requirements:
- Experience with fabrication methods and techniques
- Advanced degree or technical training in a related field
- 1-2 years experience in a similar position
- Ability to effectively communicate with all members of the project team
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to read architectural drawings
Additional Skills a plus:
- Knowledge of CNC machinery & programming
- Proficiency with Rhino & 2D drafting
- Experience working directly with contractors, consultants and vendors
- Google Doc applications
