As a member of the Tax team, our Tax Consultant (TC) is responsible for preparing income tax filings, as well as working on a variety of special tax projects. The TC will also team in the preparation of the Company’s US GAAP and Statutory income tax provisions and financial statement disclosures.
The TC will be responsible for effective research of, and communications on, Federal and State technical tax positions and may have interaction with auditors. Additionally, the TC will be involved in cross-functional consulting throughout the organization – all in service of creating an economically sustainable health care system.

Qualifications
What You Bring to Cambia:
The Tax Consultant would have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or related field and a minimum of 3 years of experience in a public accounting firm working on federal and state corporate income tax matters, or equivalent tax industry experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. CPA license or Masters in Taxation is preferred.

The bonus target for this position is 10%. The current full salary range for this role is $71,000 - $116,000/year.

Skills And Attributes
- Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), tax provisions, and income tax rules and regulations is required.
- Familiarity with statutory accounting principles (SAP) is desirable.
- Proficient tax research skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional customer focus.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively work independently and cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully manage competing priorities.
- Excellent Excel, Word and tax preparation software skills.
- Demonstrated experience in preparing and reviewing income tax filings.
- Responsible for teaming on the preparation of income tax returns and filings as well as tax provision and reporting matters (including but not limited to GAAP and SSAP tax provisions and footnote disclosures).
- Use all available tax research tools to analyze tax issues and summarize them in memoranda to executive management.
- Ensure that the tax process is as efficient as possible by utilizing the latest technology available within the company's financial means.
- Provides consulting to other departments on tax-related issues, particularly Payroll and Human Resources.
- Monitors federal and state tax legislation and assists in the communication of related tax effects.
- Research and support the implementation of tax planning strategies, particularly those related to Blue Plans' tax issues.
- Prepares and approves the tax account reconciliations.
- Participates and/or supports IRS and state tax audits and appeals
- Builds and maintains strong working relationships and communications with outside auditors and tax consultants.
- Provides direction, counseling and instruction to tax accountants and interns to ensure appropriate procedures are used and results obtained. This involves reviewing work, ensuring work meets department standards, and providing on-the-job training and documenting staff performance.
- Responsible for preparation and/or review of income tax returns and filings as well as tax provision and reporting matters (including but not limited to GAAP and SSAP tax provisions and footnote disclosures).
- We offer a hybrid work arrangement for candidates based in OR, WA, ID, or UT, requiring occasional in-office presence at one of our regional offices.
