Description
Title: Bus Driver
Reports to: Assistant Director of Athletics & Operations
Work Year: 10 months
Position Focus:
The School Bus Driver will ensure that students are transported to and from school and school-related activities in a timely and safe manner.
Spiritual:

- Serve as a role model in attitude, speech, and action a consistent daily walk with Jesus Christ
- Follow the Matthew 18 principle in dealing with students, parents, staff, and administration
- Subscribe to and promote the statement of faith and serve as a role model for that faith
Position Parameters:
- Operate school buses on assigned routes to safely transport students to and from school, as well as to and from school-related events and activities.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and school transportation policies.
- Maintain order and discipline on the bus to ensure the safety of all students.
- Assist students with boarding and exiting the bus as needed.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus to ensure it is in good working condition.
- Report any mechanical issues or safety concerns to the Director of Operations promptly.
- Maintain a clean and orderly bus environment.
- Ensure compliance with all state and local transportation regulations.
- Keep accurate records of bus inspections, maintenance, and mileage.
- Attend all required training sessions and meetings.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff.
- Provide courteous and professional service to all passengers and their families.
- Report any incidents, accidents, or delays to the school administration immediately.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements.
- Clean driving record with no at-fault accidents or traffic citations within the last three years.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Previous experience as a school bus driver or in a similar role is preferred.
- Strong understanding of traffic laws, safety regulations, and school transportation policies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage time effectively and adhere to schedules.
- Ability to sit for extended periods while operating a bus.
- Ability to conduct inspections and perform minor maintenance tasks.
- Ability to assist students with boarding and exiting the bus, which may involve bending, lifting, and other physical activities.
- Ability to work early mornings, afternoons, and evenings or weekends depending on the school events.
