What are the responsibilities and job description for the Psychologist, Child/Adolescent (PhD/PsyD only) position at Cambridge Psychology Group?
Cambridge Psychology Group (CPG; www.cambridgepsych.org) is expanding our team in the greater Boston area, and we are currently looking to add a child psychologist to work in one or more of our offices located in Cambridge, Concord, Arlington, or Lexington. We are a multi-specialty center providing evidence-based therapy, consultation, and training for children and adults, and our ideal candidate for the child psychologist (PhD, PsyD) would have experience delivering evidence-based therapy for several different diagnostic categories. We receive referrals most commonly for children and adolescents experiencing anxiety, OCD, depression, ADHD, PTSD, substance use disorders, borderline personality disorder, eating disorders, health-related conditions, sleep problems, and autism, as well as many other mental health conditions and life challenges. Ideal applicants would have experience with one or more EBTs for children (e.g., CBT, ACT, ERP, DBT, Unified Protocol, Positive Psychology interventions, compassion-focused therapy, SPACE, parent management training, PCIT, TF-CBT, etc.). There is also the option to provide family therapy and parent coaching as desired.
We also have an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for adults and older adolescents with anxiety disorders or OCD. The IOP is 2-weeks in duration and focuses on exposure therapy, while also embedding instruction in other ACT and CBT skills. We would prioritize applicants who are interested in occasionally being a clinician on the IOP treatment team. It is a great way to learn or deepen therapists' ERP skills while working and learning within a treatment team of kind, encouraging, collaborative therapists.
CPG is a private pay practice that offers highly competitive salary and benefit packages with uncapped earnings. We also offer flexibility to our therapists in setting their own schedules. We are looking for a therapist who would like to work in the Concord, Cambridge, Arlington, and/or Lexington offices for 2-3 days per week and then work remotely for the rest of the week. Afternoon and evening hours are priorities because those are the times that children are most often available.
Most of our therapists have trained at respected medical and academic institutions, such as McLean Hospital, Harvard Medical School, and Mass General Brigham hospitals. We therefore can offer a unique opportunity for continued supervision, consultation, training, and community for individuals who join our team. We would also be interested in applicants who want to help supervise students and postdocs in state-of-the-art treatment approaches. We aim to be a teaching community, inspired by the training missions of the institutions with which we are affiliated.
Practice Overview
Our team at CPG currently includes over 25 providers. We are building a community of kind, dedicated, innovative therapists who want to work, learn, and grow together throughout their careers. Our approach is grounded in flexibly applying evidence-based treatment that leads to positive changes in our clients’ lives. Many of our therapists have been active contributors to the research base supporting EBTs.
We enjoy having a team with diverse strengths. Our aim is to support you in being the therapist you most want to be. Our ideal team members enjoy the freedom and autonomy of private practice but also want connection with a community of colleagues. Our community supports peer consultations, group case consultations, team-building events, mentorships, shared clinical resources, and in-house trainings. We are an APA-approved provider of CE events.
In addition to individual therapy, we also provide group therapy, including our groups focused on DBT skills, perfectionism, ACT, and OCD.
We also have opportunities for our therapists to grow into leadership roles. These could include starting therapy groups of your own, leading IOP programs, supervising trainees, engaging in outreach efforts and speaking engagements at the local and national level, leading CE events for the community, or expanding our practice into new services, client populations, or technologies.
