What are the responsibilities and job description for the AMP’d Math Support Tutor SY 2024-2025 (5 positions) position at Cambridge Public Schools?
Description of Service Opportunity:
Tutors will:
Deliver lessons and plan activities using provided 7th and 8th grade curriculum
Create and foster relationships with students to help identify equitable needs and ensure each student is making progress through in-person learning.
Facilitate twice weekly hour-long student driven discussions and activities to foster the use of academic and mathematical discourse.
This will be done in an Upper School classroom setting.
During this time students will work through practice problems or activities
Facilitate and check-in with each student on their goal-setting and academic progress through the program.
Maintain open communication with students and families as they progress through their learning
Tutors will need access to their own device.
Provide ongoing feedback and encouragement for students throughout sessions
Manage a Google Classroom for your students
Review student thinking and overall student comprehension to provide specific feedback.
Additional (optional) Practice Problems will be given each week to give a sense of overall comprehension and boost student confidence.
Provide formative assessments and address glaring misconceptions
Compensation:
Tutors will be asked to attend a 2 hour Pre-program onboarding meeting and will be compensated for their time.
Every week tutors will be compensated for their time, both in-person and asynchronously.
Approximately 4 hours per week:
IN-PERSON:
Tutors will be compensated for all time with students:
Two 1 hour in-person sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3:20 - 4:20pm
ASYNCHRONOUS:
Tutors will also be compensated for any time they spend to support their students:
(ex. planning for implementation of lessons, reviewing student work and providing feedback - max 2 hrs/wk)
Minimum Requirements:
Experience and confidence in teaching mathematics. Experience teaching middle school mathematics; Completion of or currently working towards a Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college/university; experience dealing with diverse student populations and familiarity working in an urban setting preferred.
Length of Contract:
January 21, 2025 to May 29, 2025
Contract Amount:
$60.00 per hour, Not to exceed $4080.00
