Description of Service Opportunity:
About the Excel Tutoring Program:
-Two, 10-week sessions of small group (4:1 ratio) tutoring at no cost to students
-Personalized literacy and math instruction based on students’ areas of need
-Celebrations and recognition for student participation and program completion
-Convenient after school tutoring at your school site
-Professional learning and support for tutors
-One hour of paid preparation time per week
Session I Information:
-2/10/2025-5/2/2025: Tutoring on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from school dismissal–late bus, (~5 hours/week)
Excel Tutors will:
-Be assigned a group of up to 4 students requiring additional support in literacy or math
-Collaborate with literacy and/or math coaches to design effective intervention plans aligned with students' areas of need
-Facilitate intensive, research-based literacy or math intervention for students
-Monitor student progress toward learning goals and share information with others using the Branching Minds system
-Engage in ongoing professional learning to support high impact tutoring work
Minimum Requirements:
-Master's degree or higher from an accredited college or university preferred
-Bachelor's degree required
-Teaching license (General Education, Special Education, ESL, and/or Reading) strongly preferred
-Experience facilitating targeted learning experiences for small groups of students
-Experience monitoring student progress toward learning goals
-Relationship-focused approach to work with students
-Strong belief that all students can learn and a commitment to high-expectations for all students
-Experience communicating with families and caregivers about student progress toward learning goals
-Other duties as assigned by the MTSS Director
-Priority will be given to regularly appointed staff from the Cambridge Public Schools
-Teaching license (General Education, Special Education, ESL, and/or Reading) required
Length of Contract:
February 10, 2025 through May 2, 2025
Contract Amount
$60.00 per hourly, Not to exceed $3,300.00
Please note that your hourly rate is dependent upon your collective bargaining agreement or individual hourly rate. If you are a non-exempt employee and have worked more than 40 hours a week, you will be paid time and a half for any hours worked over 40 hours.
