The Role:
The Amigos School seeks to hire an Extend Term Substitute Bilingual Math Interventionist to join our diverse, committed, and passionate community. This individual will be responsible for providing math support to identified students within a multi-tiered system of support. The successful candidate will have experience planning, implementing and adapting curriculum, based on the Massachusetts State Frameworks and the Common Core. The successful candidate will set high expectations for all students, and utilize scaffolding and differentiation to support students in accessing all language and content material. They will also have experience as a classroom teacher working with students in math. Students in Two-Way Immersion schools receive instruction in Spanish and English. Ideally the Math Interventionist teacher will provide intervention in Spanish and English. At a minimum they will have experience working with multi-lingual learners. They will work collaboratively and in concert with their colleagues to plan and implement an academically and linguistically engaging curriculum that is developmentally appropriate and socially/culturally responsive to the needs of the dual language student population.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and assess students and work in collaboration with the school’s math team.
- Match student needs with appropriate interventions and monitor progress.
- Identify unique student needs and collaborate with team members to effectively address those needs and improve instructional practices throughout the school.
- Participate in collaborative curriculum development, grade-level activities, school-wide and district functions.
- Partner with families to include them in each student’s learning and development, guided by a profound understanding of the importance of this connection.
- Participate in school leadership team meetings
Your Skill Set:
As the incoming Math Interventionist, you will possess many, though perhaps not all, of the following characteristics and qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
- Previous and successful experience working in a multicultural environment that includes students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, alongside the ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with a diverse staff and student body.
