Cambridge Street Upper School Community:
Cambridge Street Upper School is one of 5 middle schools in Cambridge, MA. Cambridge Street Upper School serves scholars in Grades 6-8 who attended the Cambridgeport School, Fletcher-Maynard Academy, or King Open Elementary Schools. Upper School Scholars are provided with learning experiences that are developmentally responsive, challenging, inclusive, and supportive. With a combined enrollment of about 300, our school offers scholars a sense of close community while providing a large enough cohort and teaching staff to offer rich programming.
CSUS is seeking a Family Resource Liaison to start immediately through June 30, 2025. The Family Resource Liaison will work with staff, students, families and community partners to foster a school environment that is consistently welcoming to families, respects and honors student and family diversity with the school community, and draws upon family and community resources to enhance teaching and learning.
The Role:
The duties of the Family Resource Liaison include (but are not limited to):
- Collaborate with teachers and school administrators to foster regular, two-way, culturally proficient communication between the high school and families.
- Take an active role in establishing and maintaining a school environment in which families from all backgrounds feel welcome and respected. Help new students and families understand and access school information and resources.
- Communicate with current and potential families about academic, athletic, art, extracurricular programs and other opportunities.
- Provide families with relevant and timely information and notices about school operations and events.
- Help direct families to community resources and support the management of community relationships under the direction of the principal.
- Provide tours, shadowing, and information sessions.
- Develop family workshops.
- Organize the high school family-teacher conference events.
- Participate in district-wide Family Liaison meetings and other school-based meetings including weekly Scholar Support Team, grade level meetings, Cultural Proficiency Seminars, and Climate and Culture team meetings, monthly School Site Council and Equity Team meetings, and other events including coffee hours, etc. as scheduled
- Welcome families and scholars in the Main Office, support and connect with scholars during community meetings, lunch, and recess as needed
- Other duties as assigned by the Principal or school administration
Your Skill Set:
As a full-time Family Resource Liaison you will possess many, though perhaps not all, of the
following characteristics and qualifications:
- Associate’s degree or 48 college credits in education, non-profit management, or other relevant field (bachelor ’s degree preferred).
- Previous successful experience working in a community-based organization working to meet the needs of children and families.
- Previous experience working with children and families in an urban, multicultural setting, preferably within a middle school setting.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills that demonstrate cultural proficiency.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced professional environment.
- Ability to work flexible hours including before school, evenings, and occasional weekends.
- Be able to demonstrate strong and caring leadership.
