What are the responsibilities and job description for the Emerging Leader Program Coordinator (2 positions) position at Cambridge Rindge & Latin High School?
Description of Service Opportunity:
The Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) at Radcliffe is a pilot program to be held during the academic year 2023-2024. ELP is a youth membership initiative focused on gender and leadership that brings together local high-school students (mentees) and Harvard undergraduates (mentors) to engage in discussions and action on themes related to leadership development, social movements, and civic engagement. Through weekly one-on-one and group sessions, mentors will support and encourage mentees' success in the ELP, which will include curriculum linked to the collections of Radcliffe's Schlesinger Library on the History of Women in America and the opportunity to design social action projects around community issues the mentee's identify.
The Emerging Leaders Program Coordinator will be the lead contact for the program between CRLS and Radcliffe. The coordinator also will coordinate CRLS' efforts to recruit and select up to 35 sophomore students to participate in ELP. This may include:
- Preparing recruitment materials.
- Gathering nominations for the program.
- Communicating with prospective students about their interest and availability.
- Finalize the lists of participants.
After the program kicks-off, the coordinator will attend the weekly workshop sessions and the Capstone Event and keep up with the CRLS' students' progress. The coordinator will:
- Be responsible for establishing and maintaining communications between the ELP and the Mentees' parents/guardians.
- Relay information about any Mentee's absence or other information related to the Mentees' attendance at ELP sessions to Radcliffe staff prior to each session.
- Meet periodically with Radcliffe staff and consultants to discuss progress and feedback relating to the ELP.
- Participate in the end-of-year evaluation.
- Help Radcliffe collect survey data at the conclusion of the program.
Minimum Requirements:
Preference will be given to a current CRLS teacher.
Length of Contract:
September 1, 2023 - June 30, 2024
Contract Amount:
$40.00 per hour, not to exceed $5,000.00
