Job Summary
With a patient centered culture, the Radiology Services Manager will provide a positive experience to customers / patients / community by ensuring that each patient receives extraordinary and quality care. The Radiology Services Manger will ensure accurate and cost-effective performance of Imaging exams are performed by managing personnel and budgetary guidelines, overseeing the smooth operation of equipment, directing workflow and quality assurance, handling problems with customers, evaluating new exams and technology, supervising and developing staff, and ensuring compliance with departmental policies and procedures as well as regulatory agencies..
Responsibilities
Management of Staff and Assigned UnitsAssures MHS and departmental goals are achieved by evaluating and improving the quality of patient care by conducting rounds daily, equipment evaluations daily for maximum uptime, employee evaluations as per policy, stay interviews at least annually, reeducation as needed, staff optimization through recruitment as needed, assignments daily, scheduling reviews daily, and development of ideas daily, and gives performance feedback to staff frequently, and accurately documents all. Minimized turnover, effectively coaches and motivates staff, and effectively handles call-offs, general problems, employee relation issues, etc. Has complete and objective understanding and responsibility of all policies and procedures and ensures overall compliance to maximize patient and professional and organizational excellence. Maintains department policy and procedure manual according to regulatory standards and guidelines. Ensures that all regulatory requirements (i.e. Joint Commission, ACR, NRC) are met. Reports all issues to Director immediately.Management of BudgetDevelops and manages department(s) within set budgets(s) with full responsibility by closely monitoring and credibly documenting variances on Payroll (accurate timecards following attendance policies and procedures-includes following payroll practices and policies with regard to call pay, shift differentials, overtime, etc., and entering schedules in advance and addressing variances correctly and completely in timecard), Visionware and Premier benchmarking, and then recommends FTE reduction based on volume following policies and procedures (low census, FTE reduction through attrition, OT reduction, etc.). Always notifies Director of actual or potential variances.Department Strategic Planning and InitativesActively participates with department staff in departmental strategic planning, development of interdisciplinary teams, projects, initiatives, and meeting accreditation or regulation requirements by maintaining department-specific initiatives consistently on track. Prepares operational budgets and departmental capital equipment requests for approval in a timely manner. Assists with management of contracts and affiliations. Always remains patient and customer focused to provide an extraordinary patient experience, compassionate care and clinical excellence one patient at a time.Radiology Information Systems (PACs and RIS) OperationIs seen as a resource in imaging systems (RIS, PACS, Transport tracking, etc.) by team members / physicians. Responsible for ensuring that all policies, procedures, and protocols are followed by self and assigned units when operating computers to ensure patient confidentiality, validity of charges, validity of data in all systems, and quality images submitted for radiologist's interpretation.Performs Other Duties as RequiredAlways participates in planning and conducting staff meetings, department / hospital / system meetings, self-education, in-services, competencies, and maintains required job knowledge of self and of assigned units (e.g. licensure and credentials, continuing education) without prompting, following policy and procedures surrounding these requirements. Willingly performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Light Work : Frequent lifting and / or carrying of objects weighing up to10 lbs with a maximum lifting of 25 lbs.Three years Technologist experience required. Previous supervisory experience is preferred. Knowledge of business management practices normally acquired through completion of college level business management coursework preferred. Must possess working knowledge of radiological equipment and the ability to assess equipment malfunction and perform minor repairs, normally acquired through previous related work experience.
