What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Chaplain position at CAMC Health System?
Assist patients, their loved ones, and staff at CAMC to utilize the spiritual resources which promote health and wholeness, functioning as an integral member of the CAMC interdisciplinary health care team. The Staff Chaplain will report to the Director of Pastoral Care and works with the departmental team of full-time, part-time, and on-call Chaplains.
Responsibilities
Provide pastoral care to patients/families/staff at CAMC involving clergy within the community.
Respond to requests for spiritual care in a timely manner.
Provide religious and spiritual counseling and guidance.
Provide formal and informal religious services as needed.
Participate in the meeting of ritual and sacramental needs as appropriate.
Participate in team meetings and rounds.
Serve on institutional committees as appointed.
Coordinate pastoral care activities with those of other departments as appropriate.
Provide a liaison service—including consultation, education, and debrief—between staff, patients, and the faith community.
Perform related duties as assigned, including provision of religious literature appropriate to the care recipient’s tradition and beliefs.
Provide supervision of student chaplains.
Provide continuing education to on-call chaplains.
Provide staff education on utilizing pastoral care.
Provide an environment for spiritual growth at all levels of CAMC.
Promote health and faith issues through in-services and workshops within CAMC and the local community.
Additional Information: This job is primarily at Memorial Hospital; however, our full-time Staff Chaplains cover for one another at other hospital campuses as needed.

The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment or care as defined by the department’s identified patient ages. Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients.

Education
• Master's Degree (Required)
Education: Required: Master's Degree Education: Divinity, Theology, or its Equivalent from a Recognized and Accredited Seminary, Divinity School, or College of Theology (per the Council for Higher Education Accreditation, University Senate).
Required: Four Units of Clinical Pastoral Education.
Experience: Requires at Least 1 Year of Experience in an Acute Care Setting. At Least 3-5 Years of Experience in an Acute Care Setting preferred. Preferred: Board certified by and in good standing with the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC), National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC), National Association of Jewish Chaplains (NAJC), Association of Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE), Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC/ACSS), or National Association of Veterans Affairs Chaplains (NAVAC).
Required: If post-CPE board certification has not yet been obtained prior to the hire date, employee must obtain eligibility and apply for board certification through the above associations within 2 years of hire date. Eligibility includes having completed the required accredited education prior to hire date, along with recognized ecclesiastical endorsement prior to applying for certification.
