Overview:
Come be a part of the marketing transformation at Camco! Camco is seeking a Category and Business Intelligence Manager to lead category management initiatives and deliver brand and retailer insights that drive growth for both Camco and our key sales channels. This role will be hands-on, dynamic and multifaceted. It involves actively contributing to marketing and sales strategies and being an integral part of achieving revenue goals. This position will identify revenue and profit opportunities in key retail channels (traditional, distributor, dealer network and others as needed) by leveraging sales data, consumer insights and product innovation to outline the business opportunity.
Responsibilities:
Market Analysis, Insights and Trend Identification:
- Monitor trends in products, consumer behavior, market share, and competition, to inform decisions and initiate and enable innovation.
- Identify category-level opportunities and challenges.
- Conduct comprehensive analysis of market trends and industry dynamics.
- Identify opportunities for investment and growth within specific markets.
- Monitor global economic trends to inform business decisions.
Strategic Product Planning:
- Analyze key product sales trends by brand and by retailer, identifying key opportunities to drive sales.
- Devising long-term development strategies for product categories within retail customers.
- Creating exit/replacement strategies for unsuccessful products.
Product Positioning and Marketing:
- Determine and monitor product positioning within the market with an explicit knowledge of the competitive landscape, turning insights into brand building opportunities.
- Collaborate with brand teams to create effective promotional strategies.
Merchandising & Assortment Planning:
- Partner with buying and merchandising teams to support modular development, ensuring optimal space allocation and product placement.
- Leverage Camco’s proprietary data and industry expertise to provide recommendations on assortment and shelving strategies.
Customer Engagement & Category Advisership:
- Serve as a category management contact for strategic customers such as Walmart, delivering objective and data-driven recommendations to optimize category performance.
- Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with buyers through detailed analysis, insights development, and compelling presentations.
- Collaborate with commercial team for development, adjustments and execution.
Data Management and Reporting:
- Use statistical analysis and market research techniques to gather and analyze data.
- Create reports and presentations summarizing findings for senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with other teams (finance, sales) to align insights with overall organizational strategy.
Communication Skills:
- Effective communication with cross-functional teams, vendors, and stakeholders.
- Present category performance reports and recommendations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field. Advanced degree in data analytics, finance or a related field preferred.
- 8 years experience in understanding consumer needs and the retail environment with at least 3 years of data analysis experience.
- Experience with planogram software, Luminate, Retail Link and syndicated data sources related to product sales/share and pricing.
- A commercial mindset and a comprehensive understanding of marketing and sales principles.
- Ability to develop/maintain strong working relationships with peers and cross-functional teams.
- Possesses strong merchandising, product, and marketing skills.
- Demonstrate strong analytical, negotiating, and problem-solving skills.
- Willing and able to travel for trade shows and store trips.
- Experience with data visualization suites such as Excel, Tableau and/or Power BI.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Self-directed and accountable.
