Position Summary:
The Credit Officer position provides an opportunity to work independently in your choice of geographic locations in Maine or New Hampshire, but with the support of a close-knit team. In addition, Credit Officers at the bank are responsible for coaching and mentoring junior analysts and trainees. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Using the Bank’s loan origination system, spread and thoroughly analyze financial statements and supporting documentation on new commercial and commercial real estate loans.
- Where applicable, utilize automated decision-making functions within the loan origination system to assess risk and decision loan requests.
- Prepare Commercial Offering Memoranda using the loan origination system, Excel spread sheets and Word documents, to support the loan decision-making process.
- Periodically review and analyze updated financial statements and supporting documentation to confirm the risk rating on existing commercial and commercial real estate loans.
- Discuss perceived credit weaknesses or potential credit problems with the Lender, other Credit Officers or Director of Credit Administration.
- Make risk rating recommendations as appropriate.
- Remain well-informed and up-to-date on regulatory guidelines and Bank policies.
- Assist in training of other members of the Credit Department or business line partners.
- Maintain open communication channels between Credit, Lenders and Management by updating workflows and generating pipeline reports, using these tools to maintain transparency throughout the underwriting process.
- When appropriate, accompany Lenders to meet with customers and prospects.
- As required participate in, or lead, a commercial credit-related project.
- Develop expertise in specialty areas of commercial credit analysis and provide guidance to other analysts in these areas.
Basic Qualifications:
- Equivalent to a four-year college degree.
- Competency in financial accounting.
- Minimum five years related work experience
