Position Summary:
The Financial Reporting Associate works closely on financial reporting preparation and filing for the Company’s financial statements, including its public company financial statements and other forms filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”), its 401(k) financial statements, and other statutory financial statements. Reporting to the Financial Reporting Officer, the Financial Reporting Associate supports the Company’s accounting, compliance and reporting for income taxes, and is responsible for certain other duties such as the administration of the Company’s common stock and investor relations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Draft and support the preparation of the quarterly and annual financial statements and various disclosures, including preparing supporting detailed schedules for disclosed financial and non-financial data
- Responsible for the preparation of financial tables within the quarterly earnings release filed with the SEC
- XBRL tagging of the Company’s various SEC filings
- Prepare other SEC forms to be filed with the SEC, including 8-Ks, Forms 3, 4 and 5, and other documents, and coordinate with Nasdaq and Newswire for public announcements
- Support quarterly and annual income tax functions, including preparing the Company’s quarterly estimated tax calculations, assist with the preparation of quarterly income tax accounting work papers and with the coordination of income tax return preparation with external preparers
- Prepare other required statutory filings, including state-level annual reports, annual 401k financial statement, and HUD financial statements and reporting
- Responsible for monitoring and coordinating with the Company’s transfer agent all share administration, including completion of reconciliations, tracking of Section 16 officer shares, and other shareholder relations matters
- Coordinate various requests from third parties, including internal and external auditors, regulators and external tax preparers
- Provide support to other areas of Finance/Accounting through performance of routine accounting functions as needed
- Capable of independent work
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or related field
- 2-5 years of experience in accounting, financial reporting and/or other related experience
- Proficient with Microsoft products, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Proficient and comfortable with use of software and applications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in public company financial reporting
- Prior experience with accounting for income taxes (ASC 740)
- Prior experience within the banking or the financial services industry
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Is a self-starter with a project-oriented mindset to meet longer timelines that can span over weeks and months
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable in order to ensure tasks are prioritized effectively and delivered on time
- Team-player mindset that is willing to support other areas within Finance/Accounting or other business lines as needed
- Able and willing to work extended hours, including weekends and holidays, when necessary, to meet internal and external deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills to allow for effective communication and collaboration
Supervisory Skills:
- This role has no direct supervisory responsibilities, however, as needed will review work of staff team members, providing positive and constructive feedback.
- Role requires individual to work directly with peers and management across the organization to resolve questions and to provide feedback on matters as they arise.
