Job Summary
Camden is seeking a driven and committed individual to join our team as a Risk Manager. The Risk Manager supports the Director of Risk Management regarding all aspects of corporate risk management and insurance programs. Responsibilities include compiling data, assisting in claims administration, loss forecasting, and performing analysis to assist in loss control, and insurance renewals. Our ideal candidate can efficiently analyze data, prepare underwriting submissions, attend presentation and underwriter meetings, review coverage binders and insurance policies, develop and explain budgets and forecasting, and effectively communicate findings to management and the team. A curiosity to learn, desire for growth and ability to see the bigger picture will also be key in this role.
Essential Functions
Act as the primary risk management and insurance point of contact on a day-to-day basis and handle complex issues as appropriate
Work closely with the Director of Risk Management to ensure the exposures of Camden are being identified and analyzed on an ongoing basis
Manage the surety program
Work with Director and insurance broker on the insurance renewal processes.
Prepare and analyze trend reports for discussion with Operations and Facilities teams
Update property and development pipeline data and report to brokers
Prepare annual premium and loss reserve allocation for the portfolio
Responsible for preparation of property insurance allocation budgets
Assist with processing claims and invoices
Manage the OCIP program
Works closely with internal construction department administering OCIP program
Responsible for preparation and management of the OCIP premium allocation and the project insurance calculator
Perform cost-benefit analysis on capital improvements to determine impact on insurance premiums
Assist with insurance policy placement and review, contract review, certificate review, loss control review and special projects as needed
Evaluate construction costs in relation to property replacement values
Gain an understanding of Camden’s business processes and the role Risk Management plays
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Business, or Insurance from an accredited university
3-10 years of experience as risk manager, insurance manager, or insurance underwriting. Will consider insurance broker experience as well
Training or experience in loss forecasting and loss control a plus
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel & Outlook
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work closely with other teams
Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external associates
Strong analytical and conceptual skills

Will use some repetitive motion of hand-wrist in using computer and writing
Works in a typical office setting
Emotional stability and personal maturity are important attributes in this position

May require long hours and odd schedules (including weekends)
Position requires periodic travel by automobile to handle work-related activities
May require airline travel, out-of-town and /or overnight trips
Attendance and punctuality is essential for success in this position
Hazards can be minimized with proper lifting techniques, SDS, general safety training, and wearing appropriate PPE
