What are the responsibilities and job description for the FOIA Administration Support position at Cameo Consulting Group, LLC?
Cameo Consulting Group, LLC, a management consulting practice based out of Alexandria, VA, is currently seeking several qualified and available FOIA Specialists to support a prospective Federal Client in Arlington, VA. The positions are on-site, full-time and available upon award.
*All candidates must be willing to support onsite.* Some telework days may be granted, but are not guaranteed.*
General Duties:
All or some of the duties may be requested of our FOIA support staff:
- Understand and apply the concepts and methodology of the agency’s FOIA/PA regulations and guidelines.
- Articulate FOIA regulations and concepts to agency employees and contractors to ensure accurate search and review of documents.
- Conduct in-processing of requests, negotiate with requesters, collaborate with the Office of the General Counsel (GC) and subject matter experts (SMEs), process documents and close requests under short deadlines.
- Apply FOIA exemptions to agency records, research and provide interpretation on all FOIA procedural requirements including fees and fee waivers, and expedited processing.
- Review incoming FOIA/PA requests to ensure all requisite forms are completed by requesters.
- Search, identify, collect, and organize records, which include SBU information under the control of the agency, or generated or maintained by the respective program offices.
- Scan FOIA support documents related to cases assigned into the FOIAXpress databases.
- Initiate required checks in law enforcement databases and the FOIAXpress tracking system.
- Conduct analyses of the information within the scope of the request and evaluate the data for public disclosure.
- Redact documents in accordance with agency/entity FOIA protocols, which include annotating applicable FOIA exemptions.
- Maintain complete and detailed case notes on all assigned cases.
- Process FOIA/PA referral/consultation documents and letters received from other government agencies.
- Process submitter notices associated with specific FOIA cases and provide initial analysis of submitter objections.
- Prepare documentation for, and draft responses to, FOIA/PA requests, coordinating proposed disclosures of information for several entities within the agency.
- Support agency litigation efforts.
- Answer phone calls from requesters, answer questions, and direct them to information on the agency FOIA/PA website.
- Responsible for properly protecting all agency information within his/her control.
