This position requires a strong understanding of law enforcement procedures and protocols. The incumbent must be able to work independently, make sound judgments, and possess good working knowledge of state and federal laws.
Key Responsibilities
- Protect life and property
- Serve court documents (citations, notices, summons, subpoenas etc.)
- Keep daily records of papers served
- Serve as bailiff to courts of law
- Enforce federal and state laws
- Work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays
- Operate an emergency vehicle
- Work during emergency crisis (hurricanes, floods, riots, etc.)
Requirements
- Basic Peace Officer Certification from Texas Commission on Law Enforcement
- Valid Texas Motor Vehicle Operator's License and acceptable driving record
- Birth Certificate and Social Security Number
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
