Cameron House is a 150 year old institution that is deeply woven into San Francisco history and rooted in faith-based outreach and support. We proudly hold the honor of serving the evolving needs of the San Francisco Chinese community. Cameron House is a hub of year-round programs and services. These programs include our heritage youth school, adult ESL and computer classes, counseling services in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, domestic violence intervention, and case management for accessing all of the San Francisco area community resources available for immigrants with low to moderate income. We empower community members to build strength and resilience through family-centered programs, and help people learn, heal, and thrive.

Job Summary

Reports to the Chief Executive Officer and leads all activities for the Advancement department. Responsibilities include : working in partnership with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and as a member of the executive team; supervising one (1) direct report; executing annual and planned giving campaigns; advancing community impact work; increasing private philanthropy and seeking new funding opportunities; and overseeing branding, marketing, and communication initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fundraising and Campaign Leadership

Lead and manage the planning and execution of campaign components, ensuring alignment with the organization's mission, values and strategic goals

  • Partner with the CEO in maintaining positive relationships with funders and in securing new funding sources, align fundraising efforts with organizational priorities and initiatives
  • Plan, develop, implement, and manage comprehensive fundraising strategies, including institutional giving, foundation portfolio, building alumni network, prospecting, donor cultivation, and solicitation plans
  • Stay informed about fundraising trends and best practices, continually evaluate and report on the effectiveness of development strategies, and adjust, integrate new ideas and enhance efforts as needed
  • Donor and Community Engagement
  • Nurture engagement with current and prospective donors

  • Represent Cameron House at community events, networking functions, and meetings to promote our mission and fundraising goals
  • Guide the planning and delivery of a calendar of special events; leverage board, staff, and volunteers to cultivate and engage key philanthropic stakeholders
  • Marketing and Communications
  • Lead the planning, execution, and management of fundraising, branding, marketing, and communications initiatives

  • Oversee external communications and ensure messaging aligns with the organization's brand, mission, values and strategic goals
  • Update and refine brand assets and collateral in accordance with the organization’s strategic initiatives
  • Team Management
  • Supervise and mentor department staff

  • Foster team collaboration and a culture of continuous improvement
  • Partner with Human Resources in recruitment, development, performance management and offboarding of staff
  • System Development and Reporting
  • Improve systems and platforms for fundraising activities, ensuring efficient tracking and reporting of donations and grants

  • Regularly report on fundraising progress, campaign milestones, and strategies to the Executive Director and Board of Directors
  • Oversee the continuous improvement of a customer relations management system (Salesforce) to communicate and engage with, and track key stakeholder relationships (e.g., potential / current donors, volunteers, board, staff, partners, community leadership, funders, alumni

  • Strong Communication Skills
  • Bi-lingual / Bi-literate in English and Cantonese / Mandarin is a plus!

  • Superb writing and verbal skills, able to communicate information and ideas clearly that facilitate engagement and inspiration to support and donate to the organization
  • Ability to produce attractive and effective marketing materials and communications; including an ability to write reports and business correspondence
  • Excellent Interpersonal Skills
  • Able to listen well and create positive relationships through teamwork, customer service, tact, dependability, diplomacy, flexibility, and humor

  • Able to nurture and engage relationships toward mutually beneficial philanthropic outcomes
  • Possesses strong leadership and team management skills, knows how to supervise staff to ensure consistently successful results
  • Computer Knowledge
  • Proficient in MS Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace

  • Ability to Reason & Think Critically
  • Ability to analyze data to assess fundraising performance and develop data-driven strategies

  • Knows how to research, qualify and cultivate donors
  • Requirements :

  • Required : Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Business, or a related field
  • Required : Minimum five (5) years of experience of progressive fundraising and campaign management experience, particularly in cultivating large donation giving
  • Including : managing current donors and building a portfolio of new donor prospects

  • Required : Experience creating planned giving opportunities, such as bequests
  • Required : Experience creating planned giving opportunities, such as bequests
  • Required : Experience engaging foundation partners and securing local / regional foundation grants
  • Required : Experience advancing gift discussions and closing major gifts in partnership with board members and the CEO
  • Preferred : Experience working in Salesforce familiarity is desired
  • Preferred : Some experience and / or familiarity with fundraising software and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems
  • Preferred : Certified FundRaising Executive certification

    Compensation

    As a financial steward of public funds, Cameron House is committed to pay equity and transparency. Cameron House offers competitive base salaries aligned with the market midpoint for not-for-profit organizations of similar size. To maintain this commitment, Cameron House does not negotiate salary offers; instead, each offer is carefully calculated using benchmarking data. This is an exempt (salary) role with a pay range of $115,000.00 - $135,000.00 a year.
