Primary Purpose:
The Competency & Learning Systems Specialist plays a key role in the Cameron LNG Training Department, ensuring the smooth operation of the company’s Competency & Learning Management System (CLMS) and supporting workforce development initiatives. As the go-to expert for the CLMS, this role is responsible for system administration, data integrity, reporting, and ensuring training programs align with organizational needs and regulatory requirements. The CLMS Specialist supports all departments by maintaining structured training records, optimizing system functionality, and contributing to the development of training content in various formats. The CLMS Specialist will report to the Training and Competency Manager.
This position will be located in Hackberry, Louisiana. Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC) is required.
Responsibilities/Duties:
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage the development and administration of the CLMS and elements of the organization’s Training and Competency Assurance Programs, ensuring consistency and standardization across various technical disciplines.
- Configure, update, and generally maintain all day-to-day elements of the CLMS based on the current needs of the organization and its departments, including management of employee data, job roles, skill profiles, curriculum, and assessment data.
- Perform detailed records management, system administration, and report generation within the CLMS based on the current needs of the organization and its departments, including scheduled reporting and analytics functions. Define best practices for document storage and retrieval, supporting audit readiness and employee training history tracking.
- Design and develop various forms of training content and collateral to be deployed to employees, working in collaboration with Training & Competency Coordinators or industry SMEs to define technical requirements.
- Provide front-end support, including basic training and instruction, to all users of the CLMS.
- Develop and deliver training on new software tools introduced across the company, ensuring a smooth transition and user adoption.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Assist Training and Competency Specialists in the setup and deployment of training sessions, providing guidance on materials, logistics, and participant engagement.
- Support general training efforts, assisting Training and Competency Specialist with the deployment of various training packages, providing basic support and feedback where appropriate and/or qualified.
- Assist with training purchase requisitions, invoice processing, and other duties as needed to support the overall training function.
- Conduct all assigned job duties and responsibilities in adherence to established Cameron LNG safety standards and organizational benchmarks or guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Associate’s Degree in Education, Database Management, Business, Human Resources, or related field of study preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in LMS administration, training records management, or learning and development operations, including competency tracking, compliance reporting, or learning system management in a professional business, educational, or operational environment.
- Experience with training content development and instructional design, including the ability to create or update eLearning modules, training materials, and instructional content, with basic knowledge of SCORM, Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, or similar tools.
- Experience managing training projects, particularly LMS updates and eLearning development, including coordinating with external vendors for system upgrades or content creation.
Skills/ Knowledge/ Abilities:
- Basic knowledge of regulatory standards and guidelines relevant to the petroleum and gas processing industry (i.e., PHMSA, OSHA, etc.).
- Instructional Systems Design skills pertaining to training and development initiatives, including program design, administration, learning strategies, and learning delivery techniques.
- Proven skills in the use of various content development and content publishing or management platforms to generate high-end, online, and user-engaging training content.
- Proven skills in the use of various learning technologies and competency management platforms conducive to employee development and the retention of technical skills and capabilities.
- Proven verbal and written communication skills, as well as relationship management skills to optimize collaborative training design and development efforts across multiple teams and industry disciplines.
- Proven personal and professional performance attributes such as time, task, and risk management, personal effectiveness, and high degrees of demonstrated integrity and ethics.
Physical Requirements:
- This position requires minimal physical effort.
- Must be able to endure prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer for a minimum of 8 hours a day
- Must be able to climb to heights approximately 200 feet and must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able and willing to travel for various training or assessment initiatives as required.
