JOB TITLE: Certified Surgical Technologist
SHIFT: 48 Hours Bi-Weekly, 1st Shift, Required to take call

JOB SUMMARY
Assists surgeon during operative and invasive procedures. Ensures operating suite is adequately prepared for procedure.
Essential Functions
- Exemplifies good customer service.
- Demonstrates knowledge of perioperative factors that might alter the perioperative phase.
- Ensures sterile and aseptic technique when opening supplies, setting up for procedures, and maintains throughout procedure.
- Proficient at cleaning of operating room before and between cases.
- Accurately completes operating room counts (instruments, sponges, needles) and follows proper procedure in the event of incorrect count according to policy.
- Proficient at setting up the sterile field with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medication/solutions needed for the procedure, as well as passing of those instruments and supplies during the procedure.
- Maintains an orderly and sterile instrument table for the purpose of efficiency and safety.
- Performs all aspects of patient care, within scope of practice, in an environment that optimizes safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/healthcare errors for patients and staff.
- Reports any breach in sterility to surgeon and circulating RN per policy.
- Follows written procedure for steam sterilization, understanding of chemical and biological monitoring.
- Completes annual education and regulatory requirements, including state and federal regulation
Qualifications
Experience
- Minimal of 12-week clinical rotation experience required
Skills/Competencies
- Knowledge of sterile technique.
- Knowledge of operating room procedures.
- Willing to learn usage of new equipment and techniques.
Education Required
- High School graduate
- Completion of accredited surgical technologist program (Associates Degree)
Licenses Requirements
- None
Certifications Required or Preferred
- Currently certified as a Certified Surgical Technologist
- Current CPR certification
