JOB TITLE: Ultrasound Tech - Sonographer
SHIFT: PRN, Bi-Weekly, Flexible day shift hours, partial coverage accepted. No weekends, nights Holidays or call.
JOB SUMMARY
An ultrasound technician or sonographer operates imaging equipment, balances patient interaction and technological performance with a firm knowledge of anatomy and pathology by working cohesively with a healthcare team.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Performing a variety of cardiac ultrasounds including transesophageal and transthoracic imaging and ensuring the transducer (probe) is capturing images correctly and the proper technique is used
- Explain the ultrasound procedure to patients in order to avoid confusion. Use positioning tools and safety equipment properly to ensure patient safety.
- Ensuring the patient is procedure ready by reviewing medical records prior to the appointment and have a clear understanding of the images required and the correct order is present
- Prepare, Maintain, trouble shoot and clean ultrasound equipment. Prepare and maintain the room in which the procedure takes place ensuring proper sterilization and safety procedures are followed
- Advanced understanding of human anatomy and medical terminology along with maintaining all necessary credentials and keeping up to date on emerging technologies with in the field of cardiac ultrasound.
- Present quality images and preliminary findings to physicians and the healthcare team
- Maintaining patient records and documenting notes related to the ultrasound procedure
- Strong social perceptiveness, professional demeanor, critical thinking, clear communication, active listening and customer service awareness
- Maintains fiscal responsibility and participates in process improvement initiatives and supports the vision of the collective team.

Qualifications
Education:
- Training from an accredited program with cardiac concentration
Licensure/Certification:
- BLS certification required within 30 days of employment and prior to providing direct patient care
- 6 months of ultrasound experience preferred with concentration in cardiac
