JOB TITLE: Rehabilitation Aide
SHIFT: PRN (As-Needed), 1st Shift, Days
Summary/Objective
Supports cardiopulmonary specialist and therapy staff by preparing physical space for patient treatment by disinfecting surfaces, replacing supplies and linens, and ensuring an organized and safe environment.
Qualifications/Education
- Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
- Must be able to clean and sterilize equipment and areas according to Indiana State Board of Health and OSHA standards.
- Must be CPR certified within orientation period according to hospital policy.
Skills/Competencies
- Read and write legibly
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff and patients
Essential Functions
- Assists in obtaining vital signs and/or glucometer readings for Phase 2 and 3 cardiopulmonary rehab patients, and assists patients in placement of telemetry leads, and to use and adjust exercise equipment.
- Keeps records and takes payment for Phase 3 program.
- Assists therapists in patient care as requested and prepares and cleans treatment areas prior to and between patients.
- Maintains department cleanliness following daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedule of equipment, maintaining records for State Board of Health requirements.
- Maintains appropriate department inventory of supplies and maintains clean and organized storage areas.
- Coordinates and executes delivery of activities program to Transitional Care patients according to Swing Bed regulations and hospital policy.
- Maintains accurate logs and instructs participants in orientation to the employee fitness program.
