JOB TITLE: Unit Secretary
SHIFT: 48 Hours Bi-Weekly, 4-12 hour shifts, nights with weekend and holiday rotation
BENEFITS: This is a part time, benefit eligible position.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience as a nursing tech and/or unit secretary preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
JOB SUMMARY
Unit Secretary assists with clerical and administrative duties.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Exemplifies good customer service. Welcomes and directs visitors.
- Regular reliable attendance.
- Ability to get along with others.
- Demonstrates proficient use of email. Attends at least 75% of meetings. Participates in unit meetings and educational offerings in order to maintain and enhance current knowledge and skills.
- Demonstrates proficiency of EPIC electronic health record system.
- Maintains adequate office supplies/requisition supplies as needed.
- Maintains confidentiality. Maintains professional appearance and conduct.
- Promptly/courteously receives and directs phone calls and patient call lights. Records and relays messages promptly.
- Maintains an orderly office environment.
- Demonstrates flexibility in job assignments/workload.
- Demonstrates support of colleagues and nursing administration.
- Effectively communicates with other departments.
- Maintains patient logbook.
- Arranges for other departments or personnel to be called in as needed (OR).
- Arranges for ambulance transfers.
- Attends minimum of one continuing education offering per year.
- Aware of fire plan, tornado, disaster, and bomb threat procedures.
- The above statements are considered general duties. There will be other assigned duties necessary to fulfill this position.
