What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machine Operator position at Cameron s Coffee and Distribution Co?
PACKAGING MACHINE OPERATOR - 1st Shift (6:00am-2:00pm Monday-Friday)
This position will consist in operating our packaging machines and working closely with packer-palletizer and conveyance team members on a daily basis. This is a full-time position, working five days per week.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Inform appropriate manufacturing employees and supervisor of machine performance irregularities to minimize the impact of production downtime.
- Minimize production scrap, including materials and coffee product.
- Maintain a safe, clean and organized work environment. Operates packaging equipment with safety guards and switches in place, and follows all safety procedures and regulations.
- Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
- Monitor and documents package quality using analytical tools.
- Ensure that package appearance, labeling, seals, case and pallet configurations comply with product specifications and quality standards.
- Participate in process improvement activities. Maintains scheduled throughput to meet team goals for reliability and budget standards. Maintain the line by ensuring all daily and weekly PM’s and sanitation are completed.
- Willingness to champion other activities as requested by operations, engineers and Cameron’s leaders.
- Employees are responsible for maintaining an awareness of workplace safety and maintaining an awareness of training or education that will assist them in improving needed areas of their present job performance
- Provide guidance to downstream packaging personnel.
- Ensure that the product meets all SQF, GMP, and HACCP standards.
- Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Previous machine operating experience preferred
- Experience working in a manufacturing setting preferred
Skills Needed
- Basic knowledge of the English language, verbal and written.
- Basic math skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication (both written and verbal) skills.
- Stand for 6 hours, 5 days a week.
- Concentration and focus while doing a repetitive job
- Ability to listen, learn and act accordingly
- Willingness to learn from mistakes to grow and enhance skills
- Ability to manage and prioritize daily and weekly tasks
- Demonstrated problem solving skills
- Basic technical aptitude and/or willingness to learn equipment details
