Job Summary

SimplyHome is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented professional to join our dynamic finance team. In this role, you will play a critical part in driving financial insights and supporting strategic decision-making through rigorous financial and accounting analysis. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles, financial modeling, and variance analysis, combined with the ability to communicate complex information effectively to diverse stakeholders.

Duties / Responsibilities

Conduct in-depth financial and accounting analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement across financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow).
Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close and reporting processes by preparing reconciliations, analyses, and reporting packages.
Build and maintain financial models to forecast performance, assess business scenarios, and evaluate investment opportunities.
Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure the accuracy of financial data and alignment with accounting standards and organizational goals.
Prepare detailed variance analysis reports, explaining deviations from budget, forecast, and prior periods, and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
Collaborate with the accounting team to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, internal controls, and best practices.
Assist in developing and refining key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor financial and operational success.
Support ad hoc financial analysis and reporting requests to guide strategic and operational initiatives.
Provide guidance to junior analysts and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement within the FP&A function.

Required Skills / Abilities

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Expertise in creating complex 3 statement financial models.

Knowledge of financial planning platforms like Adaptive Insights or OneStream.

Experience with enterprise resource planning tools (, NetSuite, Entrata, QuickBase).

Friendly and welcoming demeanor with the ability to maintain professionalism and a strong customer-focused demeanor with demanding clientele.

Excellent time management skills, detail-orientation and ability to multi-task and prioritize work.

Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, along with advanced conflict resolution skills.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills and proficient in English. Must be able to articulate needs and convey information verbally and in writing effectively with employees, customers, supervisors, and co-workers throughout the organization.

Knowledge of management methods and sound employee relations techniques with an ability to connect with staff, troubleshoot problems and help teams collaborate, as necessary.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, real estate, or related field required.

At least 5 years of relevant experience in real estate finance, underwriting, FP&A, or related field required.

Prior experience in Single Family Rental or Build to Rent preferred.
