Camp Akeela is a sleep-away camp nestled in the Green Mountains of Vermont. We focus on community, friendship, growth, pride, and fun, providing life-changing experiences for neurodivergent kids and teens. Our campers, typically with profiles such as ASD 1 / Asperger's, NLD or ADD, thrive with extra social support. They enjoy living with peers who share similar interests. Our traditional camp program includes a wide range of activities in arts, outdoor adventure, athletics, and aquatics.
Role Description
This is a full-time seasonal (summer) role with room and board provided in Strafford, Vermont. The Program Director works closely with the camp directors to oversee the camp's daily programming, making sure that activities are intentionally aligned with Akeela's mission. This includes mentoring & supervising program area directors & activity specialists, ensuring camper engagement & safety, planning & leading special events & evening activities, and managing program logistic (scheduling, staff & camper assignments, supply procurement, etc.)

Qualifications
- Experience in Youth Development and Working With Children, preferably in extended-session, private camp settings
- Strong Communication Skills
- Ability to lead and manage a diverse team
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Recreation, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field is preferred
- Experience working with neurodivergent youth is a plus
