Position Title:
Lifeguard
Position Description:
The Lifeguard position is one of the most critical roles at Pocono Valley Resort, ensuring the safety of our guests at all water activities. The Lifeguard is responsible for preventing and responding to any and all emergencies in their assigned area. This position requires vigilance, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to creating a safe and welcoming environment for all visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Surveillance & Safety:
- Monitor aquatic activities to ensure the safety of swimmers and patrons.
- Recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies, providing lifesaving interventions as needed.
- Enforce all facility rules and regulations to prevent accidents.
- Emergency Response:
- Administer first aid, CPR, and other emergency care as required.
- Communicate effectively with emergency services during critical incidents.
- Facility Maintenance:
- Inspect and maintain safety equipment, ensuring it is in proper working order.
- Perform daily safety checks of the pool area and surrounding facilities.
- Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization of the pool decks, beaches, boat houses, and other related areas.
- Customer Service:
- Provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for all guests.
- Address patron inquiries, complaints, and conflicts professionally.
- Conduct safety orientations or swim tests when necessary.
- Training & Professional Development:
- Attend all required in-service training sessions.
- Stay up to date on certifications, skills, and facility protocols.
Qualifications:
- Certifications (Required or Preferred):
- Current lifeguard certification required (e.g., American Red Cross, YMCA, Ellis, or equivalent).
- CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid Certification.
- Skills & Abilities:
- Strong swimming skills and physical stamina.
- Ability to remain clam and act decisively in emergency situations.
- Excellent observational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience:
- Previous experience as a lifeguard is preferred but not required.
Working Conditions:
- Exposure to outdoor weather conditions and pool chemicals.
- Standing, walking, and swimming for extended periods.
- Ability to lift/move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
