What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dog Trainer position at Camp Bow Wow?
CWe are looking for hard-working, dog-loving people to join our pack and help us create a fun and safe environment for dogs. Camp Bow Wow North Phoenix is a Premier Doggy Day and Overnight Camp that provides a fun, safe and upscale environment for dogs to play, romp and receive lots of love and attention! We provide doggy day camp for clients wishing to drop their dogs off in the morning and pick them up in the evening, as well as overnight boarding for travelers. We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Dog Trainer to conduct one-on-one and group training sessions with Camp Pet Parents dogs. The Dog Trainer's responsibilities include evaluating dogs' dispositions and temperaments, providing regular progress updates to clients and documentation, and teaching clients how to positively reinforce good behavior. You should also be able to answer clients' questions regarding training and behavioral issues.
To be successful as a Dog Trainer with Camp Bow Wow, you should be patient and passionate about training dogs. Ultimately, an exceptional Dog Trainer should have sound knowledge of various dog training techniques and demonstrate excellent communication, positive reinforcement with dog handling, and problem-solving skill, and committed to humane, safe training techniques, comprehensive knowledge of training techniques and instruction skills, and requires regular continued education to maintain certification.
Dog Trainer Responsibilities:
- Consulting with clients to discuss behavioral concerns and training needs.
- Identifying additional behavioral concerns and communicating them to clients.
- Developing suitable training plans for dogs and documenting their progress.
- Teaching dogs to obey basic commands using various training techniques that are best suited to each dog’s personality and attributes.
- Implementing appropriate training programs
- Ensuring that the training areas are clean and tidy.
- Teaching clients appropriate Positive Reinforcement training methods to enforce and maintain behaviors and skills learned by their dogs during training sessions.
- Contacting clients to schedule training appointments, verify bookings, and inquire into overdue payments.
Dog Trainer Requirements:
-Have or in process of Acquiring a CCPDT (Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers) certification.
-300 hours leading hands-on training (group classes, seminars, private instruction) If you do not have a certification currently though have hours, we will pay for your certification and ask for a year of employment. If you are certified we will pay CEU’s in ex-change for a year of work (per contract).
