Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Dog person to join our team! In this role, you will be responsible for the care, handling, and management of multiple dogs in various playgroup settings. We offer a unique dog daycare setting for guests in the Urban area of Mukilteo with over 16,000 sq ft of outside space. This is an all weather, highly active position.
Your primary focus will be to ensure the safety and well-being of the animals while in your care and using the provided training tools in managing group dynamics and proper play for guests. This position requires a love for animals and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment that never has the same day twice.
Responsibilities
- Provide attentive care and supervision for dogs during playtime, walks, and training sessions.
- Ensure you are monitoring dogs for over-stimulation, anxiety or inappropriate play with other guests.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for both pets and staff. This means following cleaning protocols, picking up poop, mopping, changing mop buckets, poop bags, dishes, laundry and more!
- Assist with basic grooming tasks such as brushing and bathing dogs.
- Communicate effectively with leadership about dog behaviors and issues.
- Collaborate with veterinary technicians or assistants when necessary for health checks or medical needs of the dogs.
- Engage in heavy lifting when required, such as moving supplies or assisting larger breeds of dogs.
Requirements:
- Previous animal care is not required however you must pass all Dog handler classes and exams in order to move to group management. Experience as a kennel technician or assistant is a plus.
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to be on your feet for 3 hours at a time.
- Knowledge of pet grooming practices is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Physical capability to lift heavy objects (up to 60 pounds) and remain active throughout the day.
- A genuine love for animals and commitment to their well-being is essential.
- 18 years of age with morning availability ( we start at 630am for 1st shift and 830am for 2nd shift )
- 1-2 weekend days available per month
- Ability to successfully multi-task
- Able to lift up to 50lbs
