What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grounds Crew Supervisor position at Camp Delton Club?
DUTIES:
This position reports to the Building and Grounds Director. This position will supervise the maintenance of the camp grounds by performing a variety of landscape and building maintenance tasks: mow grass, string trim, rake, painting, perform tree maintenance, pool cleaning/maintenance, equipment maintenance and minor repairs, snow removal, plumbing, construction, security and other related duties. Janitorial duties, cleaning, remove garbage, dig, lift, and haul heavy equipment and tools. Have a basic understanding of the office front desk functions.
Assume other duties as needed by Building and Grounds Director.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Follow OSHA safety requirements to ensure safety of all staff.
2. Maintain all work schedules and consult on budget responsibility as directed by the Building and Grounds Director.
3. Build and maintain effective working relationships with office, grounds staff and members to build a team atmosphere.
4. Coordinate with Building and Grounds Director for opening and closing the camp for the season.
4. Prepare and maintain required records as required by the Board of Directors.
5. Recommend changes in work schedule or equipment use, in order to increase crew efficiency to complete work priorities on time.
6. Seek out and manage any 3rd party contractors for work to be performed at camp for maintenance, repair or improvement of camp grounds or equipment.
7. Financial knowledge and adherence to the budget constraints under the direction of the Treasurer and ability to seek out ways to control costs or save money on grounds needs and equipment.
8. Consult with Building and Grounds Director and Personnel Director to interview and hire other grounds crew employees.
9. Train all staff in grounds duties. To hire, discipline and terminate staff under the direction of the Personnel Director and Building and Grounds director.
10. Supervise all grounds related activities
11.Review and approve grounds related work orders
Involvement in grounds related future planning projects and meetings and provide all documentation of infrastructure as needed.
12. Attend Board meetings in person.
13. Assume other responsibilities as needed by Building and Grounds Director.
MINIUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge and training of various equipment, machines and tools, including their design, uses, repair and maintenance.
Supervisory training and/or experience.
Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Keep records of work performed and maintenance required.
Must be able to communicate effectively to vendors/contractors.
To deal tactfully and courteously with Camp Members and their guests;
Financial responsibility to work within the budget constraints under the direction of the Treasurer and ability to seek out ways to control costs or save money on grounds needs and equipment.
Work effectively without close supervision.
Operate a motor vehicle. Operate various landscape equipment power and hand tools.
Ability to lift 50 lbs. to height of 48 inches, withstand long hours of work and exposed to all weather conditions.
Ability to maintain adequate attendance.
Read, write and speak English consistent with job demands.
Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms, legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling of materials.
This position requires work outdoors in all types of weather while working, walking and standing.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of (2) years of experience in performing heavy manual or maintenance work in landscape or park environment. Supervision or leadership techniques, production methods and coordination of people and resources will be considered a plus. Other combinations of training and/or experience which can be demonstrated to result in the possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position.
NECESSARY SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Pool certification or will agree to be trained as (e.g. Certified Pool Operator) . Cost to be covered by Camp Delton Club .
This position required possession of a valid driver’s license.
Ability to pass a criminal history background check consistent with the security and public safety considerations specific to The Camp Delton Club.
Ability to pass a drug test.

This employee will not share, copy, reproduce, transmit, divulge or otherwise disclose any confidential information related to the affairs of the Camp Delton Club and will uphold the strict confidentiality of all meetings and other deliberations and communications of the Camp Delton Club.
This position will exercise proper authority as well as good judgment in their dealings with staff and suppliers/vendors. Will respond to the needs of the Camp Delton Club members and guests, in a responsible, respectful and professional
manner.
