The Maintenance Team is responsible for overseeing and completing maintenance for camp facilities. Secondary duties include assisting in the completion of major projects and grant execution, assisting in the planning, recruiting of staff, and execution for summer camp and outdoor schools; as well as assisting in hosting and facilitating activities for rental groups.
Summary
As a Maintenance Assistant, you will be essential in ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities through effective maintenance and repair tasks. Reporting to the Maintenance Coordinator, your core skills in mechanical knowledge and facilities maintenance will be vital for troubleshooting and resolving issues. Additionally, your relevant skills in customer service and leadership will support a collaborative work environment, making you a key contributor to our organization's success in maintaining high standards of safety and functionality.
Responsibilities:
- As part of the Maintenance Team have a working knowledge of and ability to complete the following:
- Maintain all Camp facilities
- Maintain and repair as necessary Camp equipment
- Garbage management
- Collecting garbage throughout camp
- Communicate the status of the dumpster to be hauled off when full
- Maintain the grounds of camp by:
- Overseeing landscape maintenance of grass and weed control
- Irrigating, mowing, and maintaining lawn
- Maintain camp entrance, roads, and parking lots to be drivable for guests
- Landscaping to improve the aesthetics of camp as approved by the director
- Fire suppression
- Maintain and improve the Challenge Course and elements contained within
- Maintain a stock of Firewood in woodsheds for programming and rental groups
- Maintaining shop and storeroom and keeping spare maintenance parts on hand for emergency repairs and basic building materials on hand for small maintenance projects.
Projects
- Responsible for the oversight and coordination of new building projects as approved or assigned by the Executive Director
- Manage timelines and work to be completed for both major and minor camp projects
- Communicate with the rest of the maintenance team when project work needs to be completed by the camp maintenance team
- Complete projects on time
- Communicate with potential donors and camp guests about future projects
- Security
- Serve on the safety team
- Keep gate locked when groups are not on site
- Inspection of buildings daily
Communication
- Developing and maintaining transferable systems for tracking and executing maintenance and grounds work both routine and long-range work.
- Quarterly Water Samples
- Monthly Sep Tech Flow readings
- Custodial Duties
- Deep clean camp as needed
- Cleaning up after events as necessary
- Create and maintain cleaning checklists for camp events and rental groups
- Communicate with Guest Services regarding custodial issues
Volunteers
- Serve as part of the work weekend team for planning, programming and execution
- Coordination of maintenance volunteers
- Summer camps and Outdoor schools
- Assist the Director in recruiting staff
- Assist the Program team in planning
- During summer camp duties will be assigned
- Provide challenge course training for summer program staff
- Provide challenge course facilitation as needed
- Hosting and Rental groups
- Assist Guest Services Coordinator with hosting camps
- Challenge Course/Slip n Slide/ Paintball
- Facilitation as needed
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- 2 years of customer service experience.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Good time management and organizational skills.
- Conflict resolution experience.
- Patience and good listening skills.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $14.00 - $15.00 per hour
