Plus an excellent benefits package including medical and dental insurance, supplemental insurances, company-paid LTD & Life, eight (8) paid holidays – 15 days total in 2025, one floating holiday, PTO and personal leave for employees working 30 hours, and a 401(k)-retirement savings plan including a company match.

Job Summary:


The Major Gifts Officer is a key contributor to advancing Camp Fire First Texas’ mission, focused on securing major gifts to support the organization’s strategic goals. The ideal candidate will be a team player and have a proven track record of achieving fundraising targets, possess strong organizational skills, and exude a passion for cultivating meaningful relationships with Camp Fire supporters.

 

Prospect identification and research:

Actively identify and research potential major donors through market analysis, networking, and database management to build a robust prospect pipeline

 

Relationship building:

Develop and maintain meaningful relationships with major donors through personalized communication, regular meetings, and tailored engagement strategies to understand their philanthropic interests and motivations

 

Cultivation and solicitation:

Implement strategic cultivation plans including site visits, informational meetings, and events to educate donors about the organization's mission and programs, ultimately leading to a solicitation for a significant gift

 

Gift closing:

Negotiate gift amounts and giving vehicles with potential donors, ensuring a a smooth and successful closing process.

 

Portfolio management:

Manage a portfolio of major gift prospects, tracking progress through a CRM system and prioritizing outreach efforts based on donor potential and giving capacity. 

 

Collaboration with others:

Work closely with other Advancement team members, program staff and leadership to align fundraising strategies with organizational priorities and donor interests. 

 

 

 

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Experience in donor acquisition strategies and managing a donor portfolio to achieve fundraising targets.
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Familiarity with donor management software (e.g., Bloomerang, Raiser’s Edge NXT, or similar)
  • Expertise in nonprofit fundraising best practices, per the AFP Code of Ethical Standards
  • Knowledge of the Fort Worth philanthropic community and strategic engagement in the community to enhance Camp Fire’s profile and mission awareness.

  • Experience in donor acquisition strategies and managing a donor portfolio to achieve fundraising targets.
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Familiarity with donor management software (e.g., Bloomerang, Raiser’s Edge NXT, or similar).
  • Expertise in nonprofit fundraising best practices and event planning.
  • Knowledge of the Fort Worth philanthropic community and key funding opportunities.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Ability to drive and have their own reliable transportation

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends, as needed

Specific Duties

Major Gifts Procurement

  • At Camp Fire, major gifts are defined as cumulative giving of $5,000 within a calendar year. Your primary responsibility will be to develop and strengthen donor relationships and identify Camp Fire funding needs and opportunities to find the right fit for both parties.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Development and Chief Advancement Officer on donor relationship management and opportunity creation.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with Camp Fire program teams to best share the impact of our mission to our supporters. This can be fulfilled through impact reports, in-person tours/visits, and various donor relations/stewardship tactics.
  • Strategize with the Director of Development to identify the best annual giving prospects to grow into potential major gift donors.

Donor Portfolio Management

 

  • Manage a portfolio of donors, focusing on cultivation, retention, and upgrades.
  • Routinely audit your assigned donor portfolio, in collaboration with the Director of Development.
  • Regularly engage donors through visits, personalized updates and touchpoints.
  • Maintain donor records in Bloomerang (CRM), tracking engagement and funding opportunities.

Special Event Support

  • Primarily support with special event sponsorships. Retaining and growing existing sponsor support and identifying and qualifying new sponsor prospects.
  • Assist as needed with volunteer event committees, attending after-hours meetings as required. This is at the direction of the Director of Development.

Support Advancement Operations

 

  • Maintain knowledge of Camp Fire programs, services, and operations
  • Healthy collaboration within the Advancement team is a must
  • Other duties as assigned, primarily related to key fundraising initiatives
