Job Summary:
The Major Gifts Officer is a key contributor to advancing Camp Fire First Texas’ mission, focused on securing major gifts to support the organization’s strategic goals. The ideal candidate will be a team player and have a proven track record of achieving fundraising targets, possess strong organizational skills, and exude a passion for cultivating meaningful relationships with Camp Fire supporters.
Prospect identification and research:
Actively identify and research potential major donors through market analysis, networking, and database management to build a robust prospect pipeline
Relationship building:
Develop and maintain meaningful relationships with major donors through personalized communication, regular meetings, and tailored engagement strategies to understand their philanthropic interests and motivations
Cultivation and solicitation:
Implement strategic cultivation plans including site visits, informational meetings, and events to educate donors about the organization's mission and programs, ultimately leading to a solicitation for a significant gift
Gift closing:
Negotiate gift amounts and giving vehicles with potential donors, ensuring a a smooth and successful closing process.
Portfolio management:
Manage a portfolio of major gift prospects, tracking progress through a CRM system and prioritizing outreach efforts based on donor potential and giving capacity.
Collaboration with others:
Work closely with other Advancement team members, program staff and leadership to align fundraising strategies with organizational priorities and donor interests.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Experience in donor acquisition strategies and managing a donor portfolio to achieve fundraising targets.
- Demonstrated ability to cultivate relationships with diverse stakeholders
- Familiarity with donor management software (e.g., Bloomerang, Raiser’s Edge NXT, or similar)
- Expertise in nonprofit fundraising best practices, per the AFP Code of Ethical Standards
- Knowledge of the Fort Worth philanthropic community and strategic engagement in the community to enhance Camp Fire’s profile and mission awareness.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Experience in donor acquisition strategies and managing a donor portfolio to achieve fundraising targets.
- Demonstrated ability to cultivate relationships with diverse stakeholders
- Familiarity with donor management software (e.g., Bloomerang, Raiser’s Edge NXT, or similar).
- Expertise in nonprofit fundraising best practices and event planning.
- Knowledge of the Fort Worth philanthropic community and key funding opportunities.
Essential Functions:
- Ability to lift 25 pounds
- Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing
