About Camp Fire North Shore: Camp Fire North Shore is a traditional summer camp offering school-age children the
opportunity to explore the outdoors, engage in fun activities, and build lifelong memories. A centerpiece of the camp
experience is our in-ground pool, where campers cool off and enjoy swim lessons and free swim each day. As an Aquatics
Director, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring our campers have a safe, enjoyable, and enriching time at the pool.
Position Overview:
The Camp Counselor is responsible for providing a safe, fun, and engaging experience for campers of various ages in a
variety of outdoor activities. This role involves supervising, guiding, and supporting campers to ensure their physical,
emotional, and social well-being throughout the camp session. Counselors will lead activities when needed, encourage
positive behavior, and foster a sense of community among campers. They must serve as role models, demonstrating
responsibility, enthusiasm, and respect for others while promoting teamwork, leadership, and skill development. As a
Camp Counselor you will work closely with other counselors and leadership to ensure the smooth operation of daily
activities and contribute to maintaining a positive and inclusive camp environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure the safety and well-being of each child in your assigned group.
- Take daily attendance during sign-in and parent dismissal.
- Lead a weekly icebreaker or “get to know you” activity to help new campers feel comfortable.
- Make an effort to learn each camper’s name and something personal about them by lunch on Monday (e.g.,
favorite color, animal, etc.).
- Remain with your group at all times, including during instructional and free swim sessions.
- Assist specialists with camp activities and clean-up, ensuring that all campers are engaged and included.
- Be a positive role model for both campers and other counselors by modeling healthy habits (e.g., staying
hydrated) and maintaining a fun and enthusiastic attitude.
- Attend to campers’ individual needs (e.g., helping with shoes, bathroom trips, lost items, feeling unwell, making
friends, etc.) to ensure they have a positive experience at camp.
- Address any issues related to bullying, exclusion, or other camper challenges, providing support to foster a safe,
welcoming environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned by camp leadership.
Preferred Experience and Qualifications:
- Minimum age of 16.
- Reliable transportation to and from work.
- If under 18, must have a valid work permit.
- Experience working with children is a plus.
General Pay and Contract Provisions:
- Orientation: June 3rd or June 10th, 2024 (mandatory).
- Training: June 8th & June 15th, 2024 (mandatory).
- Camp Dates: June 24th, 2024 - August 23rd, 2024 (9 weeks).
- Daily Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM.
- Pay rate: $16.00 - $18.00 hr based on experience
