Summary:
Camp Fire North Shore is a traditional summer camp that serves school- age children in the North Shore. Campers spend the summer exploring and participating in fun outdoor activities, all under the guidance of qualified Specialists and Counselors. The highlight of the camp day is when campers are cooling off in our in-ground pool. Campers swim once a day. Their swim time consists of participating in instructional lessons and free swim.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise children at all times in all areas of the pool (shallow end, deep end and poolside)
- Lead pool activities and lessons with enthusiasm and encourage participation appropriate to the developmental level of the child
- Enrich the whole group free swim period with games and activities
- Inspect the pool site and equipment daily and alert Director to any potential safety hazards
- Vacuum pool liner and empty pool filters daily
- Check pool water chemistry daily and adjust accordingly to maintain balanced levels
- Assist with cleaning up pool areas and materials to ensure that all items are stored appropriately
Preferred Experience and Qualifications:
- Minimum of 18 years of age.
- Current Lifeguard certification or willing to obtain recertification
- CPR/ First Aid Certification
- Certified Pool Operator certificate or willingness to be trained
- High School Diploma, preferably enrolled in college level program
- Minimal 2 years (or 2 summers) experience supervising/life-guarding children ages 5-12
- Experience leading private or group swim lessons; determining skill levels and documenting progress
- Experience with in-ground pool maintenance
General Pay and Contract Provisions:
- Orientation (June 3rd or June 10th) and training (June 8th & June 15th) - are mandatory.
- Summer Camp runs for 9 weeks during the summer: June 24th, 2024 - August 23rd, 2024
- Daily hours will be from 8:30am to 4:30pm
- $25 hr.
