Job Title: Lifeguard
Location: Rhinelander, WI
Job Summary
The Lifeguards are responsible for supervision of lake and waterfront activities while on duty, and assisting with waterfront maintenance. They are responsible for planning, teaching, coordinating, and carrying out swim activities and guiding campers in their personal growth and skill development. The Lifeguards will serve as a role models to campers and staff through their actions, professionalism, appearance, language, manners, and general conduct, and participate enthusiastically.
Qualifications
- High school diploma is required.
- Minimum age of 18 years old.
- One year post high school education or job experience preferred.
- Current certification in CPR/First Aid OR ability to take course and pass.
- Applicant must possess current Lifeguard with waterfront skills certificate from American Red Cross OR ability to take course and pass.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Initiate and direct all Waterfront Activities
- Test and classify swimming ability of all camp staff and campers prior to participation in any waterfront activities.
- Deliver progressive and innovative swim activities that meet camp outcomes and the abilities of the campers.
- Ensure that camp staff and campers know and follow safety procedures such as the Waterfront rules and Buddy Board.
- Ensure that state codes are being followed.
- Knowledge and commitment to following camp policies and procedures.
- Assist in managing the care of the physical facilities and waterfront equipment and let director know about needed supplies.
- Additionally, participate as a member of the counselor staff to deliver and supervise day programs, evening programs, special events, trips, overnights, and other all-camp activities and camp functions.
- Keep track of campers by using the ‘WhereAbouts’ clipboard.
- Attend all staff meetings and trainings
- Assist where needed on camper arrival and departure days.
- Accept other duties as assigned.
- Report incidents, accidents, or problems promptly to Camp Director or
