Position Overview
Camp Fire Wilani seeks an experienced, seasoned, person with the ability to work almost entirely independently (once trained) to run the Spring 2025 season of Camp Fire Wilani’s Outdoor School Program. This position recruits, hires, and trains one program coordinator and 12-14 seasonal outdoor school staff as well as oversees 2-3 seasonal kitchen staff people.
Physical Requirements: This position requires significant physical strength, energy, stamina, and fortitude. This person or their chosen coordinator MUST have experience with waterfront safety and safely loading and maneuvering a canoe trailer. This position requires the willingness and ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, and to engage in extensive walking/hiking throughout the day.
Recruits, interviews, hires and trains, and manages seasonal staff – responsible for setting standards and supporting the program team in effective facilitation of all aspects of the Spring Outdoor School Program. Performs mid-season and end-of-season evaluations, disciplinary action, coaching, and dismissal as required. Creates weekly work schedules for staff.
Risk Management- models and enforces risk management practices in every single aspect of program preparation, facilitation, and evaluation.
Program staff back-up – filling in for direct-service program staff during busy season, due to illness or vacation coverage.
Outreach events – attend community events alongside other staff as needed to promote organization and programs (often outside of 9-5 hours) such as parent nights, pre and post program school visits, recruitment events, PTA meetings, open houses, and networking meetings.
Program fidelity - learns deeply the BEETLES curriculum and Outdoor School Program and manages a consistent learning environment so that every child receives a standardized and equal learning experience with students from the same school learning identical material.
Materials Management and Inventory: Does a preseason inventory including going through the organization’s storage unit to organize, repair and/or replace needed materials. Is responsible for organized storage and inventory post-season
Technology: Familiarity with the Google Suite Workplace: Gmail, Excel/Sheets, Word/Pages, Google Calendar, etc. familiarity with Indeed, Handshake, Linkedin and other recruitment platforms.

Work Schedule:
- March 15th - April 27th: 30 hours per week: recruit, interview, and hire staff; preparation, materials inventory and production, correspondence with schools, parent nights.
- April 28th - May 2nd: Staff Training - 40 hours
- May 6th - 8th: Eastwood Elementary, Sky Camp - Overnight - 36 hours
- May 12th - 15th: Gilham Elementary, Finley - Day Only - 32 hours
- May 19th - 22nd: Oaklea Elementary, Finley - Day Only - 32 hours
- May 27th - 29th: Camas Ridge (25), Riley Creek (25), Sunnyslope (28), Sky Camp - Overnight - 36 hours
- June 3rd - 5th: TBD -Sky Camp - Overnight (This session is reserved at Sky Camp, but has not yet booked. May be cancelled if no booking.)
- June 9th - 13th: Inventory, clean, and store all supplies.
Requirements:
- Successful completion of FBI Criminal Background check with Fingerprinting
- Current driver’s license and clean driving record
- Minimum 25 years of age (for insurance requirement)
- Three professional work references (supervisors)
- Ability to keep and track receipts for program-related expenses
- At least 2 years experience in staff supervision/management
