ABOUT:
Camp Fletcher, founded in 1926 by Mrs. Pauline Fletcher, is situated on a beautiful 300 acre nature preserve in the heart of McCalla, Alabama. On the banks of Shades Creek, Camp Fletcher's Summer Day Camp program serves children between the ages of 5-15. Children and staff alike enjoy a broad range of experiences and activities, making friends and spending time in the great outdoors - all in a safe and secure environment.
Camp Fletcher is proud to be accredited by the American Camp Association.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan, coordinate, and carry out activities, while guiding campers in their personal growth and daily living skills in both recreational and educational avenues.
- Provide consistent support throughout the summer with your specific camper tribe. Tribes are divided into K-2, 3rd-4th, 5th-6th, 7th-9th.
- Ensure compliance with program plans, camp policies and procedures.
- Lead your campers on a wide range of activities from archery, arts and crafts, field sports, fishing, canoeing, and swimming.
- Create a fun and rewarding environment by maintaining the well-being and safety of campers.
- Ensure campers are supervised at all times and guide them on understanding daily routines, clean up tasks and expectations.
- Participate enthusiastically in all program areas serving as a positive role model and mentor through your attitude and behavior.
- Lead and supervise during any special event programs including camper’s overnights (4 scheduled).
- Perform first aid or take care of minor injuries as needed, including completion of accident incident reports.
- Maintain a high standard of communication and participate in verbal and written evaluations as requested.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be between the ages of 16 and 25.
- Must successfully pass a swim test.
TIME COMMITMENT:
- Full season commitment of May 27, 2025 – August 3, 2025.
- Monday – Friday, 6:45am to 6:30pm, with exception to Tuesdays 6:45am to 7:00pm.
- Off on nights and weekends, except for special events and campers overnight (4 scheduled days throughout the summer).
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
- Physical aspects of this position include the ability to carry and lift 30 pounds, walking long distances, hiking, canoeing, fishing, daily exposure to the sun, bugs and potentially a snake or two.
