What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Director position at Camp Greystone?
Description
Camp Greystone is a 100 year-old Christian summer camp for girls located near Hendersonville, NC. Our mission is “to delight and inspire for the Glory of God,” and we are searching for a Maintenance Director to add to our team who will help us accomplish our mission.
The Maintenance Director will lead our Maintenance team and is essential to the successful functioning of Greystone each year. With 165 acres of camp property and over 100 buildings to maintain, this position is responsible for overseeing every aspect of the property, these buildings, and the camp infrastructure, thus providing a safe and enjoyable summer for both campers and staff.
The Maintenance Director is more “coach” than “player”. We are looking for an individual whose primary role will be project and team management. The Maintenance Director will manage and delegate tasks to 8 - 12 staff members on the Maintenance team. The ideal Maintenance Director will spend most of his or her time on project and people management tasks; hands-on maintenance work will be secondary.
The Maintenance Director’s highest priority is to provide exceptional service to our community. Keeping our property in excellent condition and prioritizing facility needs is an extension of our camp mission. The ideal candidate will provide prompt turnaround times on tasks, communicate proactively with stakeholders, accurately estimate work schedules, effectively manage the Maintenance team, and ensure a beautiful, safe, and functional property.
The Maintenance Director will be based onsite. Normal working hours for Maintenance during the offseason are M-Th 7:00AM-4:30PM and Friday from 7:00AM-11:00AM. Summer hours are from 7:00AM-3:30PM M-F with half days onsite on Saturdays and daily pool maintenance. The Maintenance Director may be required to work irregular hours as needed during the camp season, and will be a go-to person for property-related emergencies in season.
