ROLE
Title / Position : Group Leader
Reports to : Team Leader
Location : Camp Harbor View, Long Island, Boston MA (ferry transportation provided)
Hours : Seasonal, Full-Time; June 18th- August 22nd; 8 : 15 am to 4 : 45 pm
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee the safety of a group of middle school-aged campers, following the set schedule to ensure timely transitions and regularly taking attendance to ensure all campers are accounted for;
- Build genuine, caring relationships with campers and support them as they build connections with their peers, ensuring appropriate boundaries are maintained;
- Assist program staff with the delivery of developmentally appropriate activities, encouraging active participation and engagement through role modeling and positive behavior guidance;
- Create and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum for a club that campers will choose to participate in;
- Identify campers who may need additional support, informing Team Leaders and referring campers to the appropriate team;
- Maintain cleanliness of all camp spaces, encouraging campers to claim responsibility for their belongings and to have pride in the camps facilities;
- Coach andmentor high school-aged youth in the Leader in Training (LIT) program, regularly communicating with the Team Leaders and LIT staff regarding the LITs job performance;
- Support the development and growth of a positive camp culture by providing additional support to campers and colleagues as needed and at community-wide events, including, but not limited to, performances, lunch, and the ferry; and
- Other dutiesthat support the Camp Harbor View communityas specified bythe Team Leaders and year-round leadership;
- Floater position) Support the needs of a lighthouse, including, but not limited to, coverage of groups during staff breaks or absences, support group leaders who need additional assistance, and support team leaders with all duties related to managing the lighthouse;
- Floater position) Support the needs of a program area in the event of a staff absence that impacts program delivery, including, but not limited to, implementation of curriculum.
