What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp Team Lead Counselor position at Camp Inspire?
Position Details:
Daily hours: 7:30am-4:30pm; Mondays through Fridays. Regular camp hours will run June through August 2025. There are also required paid training and orientation dates in Spring 2025. The Summer Camp Team Lead Counselor position supports and leads school-aged campers during structured activities, sports and games in our Camp Inspire Summer Camp program, which is held in our Brookfield facility.
Responsibilities Include:
- Attend pre-camp meetings and trainings as designated by Camp Director.
- Support Camp Director with preparation and execution of orientation training for Camp Inspire team members.
- Mentor and support Camp Inspire team members in creating a fulfilling camper curriculum by modeling and providing ideas, suggestions and materials.
- Coach and support Camp Inspire team members (Lead Counselors) to more effectively lead their groups, run activities and generally interact with campers.
- Meet with and/or otherwise communicate effectively with Camp Director to obtain information needed regarding the specific needs of each camper.
- Ensure all Camp Inspire Lead Counselors are diligently monitoring safety of campers at all times.
- Identify and report any hazardous and/or unsafe conditions to Camp Director. Know and execute Safety Protocol.
- Effectively communicate with team members, campers and families.
- Engage and actively supervise the campers during camp activities.
- Take part in the daily clean-up of the program area(s), including effective execution of Ops Cards for designated camp stations.
- Effectively open Camp Inspire as-needed and/or as directed by Camp Director throughout the summer.
- Follow procedures and policies of camp as mandated by Wisconsin DCF.
- Support with camp-related tasks throughout the day, as directed by Camp Director.
Qualifications:
- Must be 21 years of age or older (per DCF requirements)
- Must effectively pass both preliminary and State/ongoing background and reference checks
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Must effectively perform all duties, tasks and responsibilities of a Lead Counselor at Camp Inspire.
- Prior experience working with school aged children with a wide range of abilities.
- Ability to engage with campers and team members of all ages.
- Ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards within the Camp Inspire program.
- Strong written and spoken language skills.
- Ability to get to and from work on-time each day.
- Compliance with all content in Employee Handbook (subject to change at any time)

Pay: $19.00 - $20.00 per hour
