Compensation: $19/Hour, plus meals during work shift.
Job Description
Kitchen Assistants are responsible for preparing and serving daily food at all assigned meals. This position requires professionally and diligently upholding all policies and following all food handling procedures in a safe and consistent manner. The Kitchen Assistants work closely with the Food Service Director and Assistant cook, carrying out all kitchen duties as assigned. Kitchen Assistants are also responsible for all dish washing and keeping the dish room clean. The Kitchen Assistants keep the kitchen laundry washed, dried, and folded in a timely manner. All Camp Lutherwood Oregon staff are expected to work collaboratively with all other staff members in order to complete the task of serving all campers and guests in the spirit of hospitality.
Qualifications:
· Previous experience in a professional kitchen, or experience in a private kitchen preferred. Ability to use knives and other kitchen equipment to quickly and safely process food for cooking.
· Flexibility to adapt to regularly changing circumstances.
· Able to follow both spoken and written instructions and gain new skills quickly.
· Excellent communication skills.
· Help unload and store supplies
· Assist with kitchen clean up as assigned
· Ability to work well with multiple kitchen staff.
· Enjoy an outdoor camp atmosphere.
· Demonstrated understanding of clean kitchen facilities and kitchen procedures, working within the American Camp Association standards and Oregon Health Department standards.
· Hold or be able to obtain a current Oregon Food Handlers Card or equivalent.
· Hold or be able to obtain First Aid and Adult and Child CPR/AED certifications. Training provided.
Physical Expectations: Ability to stand for 8hrs a day, walk, lift up to 25 pounds, bend over, reach and pull. Punctual and able to follow directions.
